Mux question

Added by Lisa White over 5 years ago

Hello everyone I have another question for you all regarding adding a mux.

I have created a m3u playlist and added the list with automatic network. Everything mapped correctly, but I forgot a mux. I manually created another mux under that particular playlist network and it mapped. Everything appeared to play fine for about 15 minutes then tvheadend deleted that manually added mux on its own, logging an error (0x7f844c026f00) - deleting.

How can I resolve this problem and stop tvheadend from automatically deleting this mux?

Thanks
Lisa

Not quite sure what you mean by "manually created another mux under that particular playlist network".

The normal approach would be to just add an entry to the .m3u file. TVH will (eventually1) re-read the file - make sure that under Configuration/DVB Inputs/Networks you have "New muxes + Changed Muxes" set under "Network Discovery".

[1] The network file is only re-read every 'Re-fetch period' - there's doesn't seem to be a simple way to force TVH to read the file, which is a pain if you're editing it. You can change the Re-fetch period, but this only takes effect after the current Re-fetch period has timed out, so doesn't help much.

Thanks for the response. I just want to clarify how I manually entered the mux. I did not add the new mux to the original m3u playlist file. I went into configuration and mux. I selected add new mux and chose the my playlist network with all of the m3u files. The add mux block appeared and I entered all the new mux information manually, and saved. The new entered mux automatically loaded and I mapped it to the rest of the m3u playlist. The manually added mux appeared in my channel list and I assigned it a channel number. It played as normal for about 15 minutes and then tvheadend automatically erased it, indicating "(0x7f844c026f00) - deleting" in the log. I cannot figure out why tvheadend keeps erasing it. I tried something different and manually created a new network and followed the same procedure as described, but the mux's were also erasing. I wonder if this is a bug?

Thanks
Lisa

I don't think it's a bug when the network is loaded from a m3u file, as TVH will re-read the file periodically, which will over-ride anything you add manually.

Maybe the 2nd case you mention is a bug - I'll leave that to someone with more knowledge of the code to answer.

Anyway, the answer to your original question, is simply to add the new mux to your m3u file.
