VPN help
Added by Lisa White over 5 years ago
Its me again and I have another snag. I am running tvheadend on server with xubuntu 18.04. I installed a VPN (Ipvanish) on my server and it is blocking the majority of the channels to my kodi clients. I receive error "01F6: No input source available for subscription." This problem happened with libreelec and there was a section on the app that would allow all clients within the network to connect to tvheadend.
The system works fine when VPN is disabled.
Does anyone know how I can correct this problem?
Thanks again,
Lisa

Use router to do this.
see routing table with and without vpn.

The output of route -n without and with the VPN enabled should show what's going on.
For example if your local network was 192.168.1.0/24, you should see this line:
192.168.1.0 0.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 U 202 0 0 eth0
This tells you that the 192.168.1.0/24 network is accessed via the interface eth0.
If this doesn't appear [or points to a different interface] when VPN is enabled, that's your problem.
Exactly how to fix it... You could manually install that route, but your VPN setup should to that for you.
Hard to give more advice without knowing more - might be better to ask on your VPN forum, as this isn't
really related to TVHeadend.

Sorry saen, I am not understanding your answer. I have no idea what a routing table is. My router is a r9000 netgear and has vpn tab within the administrative setup.
I was exploring and found a box that was checked within the VPN linux settings that said "allow all networks to connect". I unchecked that and all of my clients came back on.
Will the VPN protection still work with all my Kodi clients since I unchecked this box? I just use kodi only to connect to the server and my server IP shows that it is vpn activated upon requesting my ip address from the internet.
Thoughts?

Your home router can be VPN Server for free.

Ok, guys thanks for the information. I made a change in the settings to tcp and it seemed to solve my issue. My internet speeds are just about at max and all kodi client's seem to be connecting and receiving input sources. I will keep you posted if something creeps up.
Thanks again,
Lisa
