TVHeadend Custom ATSC Mux configuration
Added by Bob Dole almost 6 years ago
I've spent the better part of two days trying to figure this one out, but have had no luck configuring a custom MUX. I get the frequency, but haven't found a way to determine the Symbol Rate for each frequency. Can anyone provide me any guidance on what I need to do to get this figured out? The predefined MUX list only give me like 3 channels out of my 60ish or so channels. I am assuming that this requires me to then manually add them via the GUI, but without the Symbol Rate, this is impossible. I will be more than happy to add any information needed. Please let me know.

My apologies, I thought I understood what you were asking for. So my local operator according to their program guide has approximately 200 channels this is including the music channels, showtime, starz, hbo, etc. I am only paying for the mid tier cable offering of 156 channels. The total cost I am paying right now is 90.50$. I am not paying for any of the addons or anything. Is that more exactly the information you were asking for?

Your operator must provide official program table with include
standard of transmision,frequency, parameters
ex.

or something as this witch is on DVB-C standard

USA is only country using own standard ATSC with is not compatible with rest world DVB standard.

RE: TVHeadend Custom ATSC Mux configuration - Added by Bob Dole almost 6 years ago
I've changed the title as suggested. So for instance I've got this selection of information that I've gathered using w_scan
A 447000000 QAM256
A 453000000 QAM256
A 459000000 QAM256
A 465000000 QAM256
A 471000000 QAM256
A 477000000 QAM256
and then there's this selection that I've found out using dvbscan
CNN:447000000:QAM_256:6931:6932:12
TWC:447000000:QAM_256:6928:6929:13
HLN:453000000:QAM_256:3969:3970:14
SPIKE:453000000:QAM_256:3984:3985:15
The real issue like I had mentioned before was the symbol rate. Without this particular thing I can't properly configure the MUX and definitely. For instance if I use the United States: us-Cable-Standard-center-frequencies-QAM256
MUX list then I can find ESPN, HGTV, and CNN, so some of them work as expected, but far from the list that I would expect.

There is a 6mhz step betwin frequencies if this can help

The first list I posted is from the original w_scan and the second is from DVBScan. I just built the new w_scan2 and am running it now. Hopefully it will provide me some more information.

Are you attempting to watch encrypted or just FTA channels?
Due to "must-carry" laws cable companies "must-carry" locally broadcast tv channels on their cable FTA. But, the law is not specific, so different cable operators comply in different ways. Some send them over DVB-C (Annex-B), others send them over ATSC (ATSC-T), and others use a combination. Best is to try and find the information from your cable operator.
In general, once you find one mux, enabling "Network Discovery" should allow the automatic finding of all muxes. I used w_scan to find one mux, then manually entered it into tvheadend and enabled "Network Discovery" and tvheadend found all the other muxes.

This is valid for Europa not for North America
DVB standard for DVB-C/T have fixed frequency table, ATSC not so.

Yes, I was in a hurry and I mis-wrote DVB-T instead of ATSC, but the info is for North America. I fixed it now.
