DVR - UK Channel 4 HD | Channel 4+1 HD | audio problems recorded files
Added by Marc Ominus almost 6 years ago
I have problems playing recorded files from Channel 4 HD / Channel 4+1 HD
Channel 4 SD recordings play fine with music and audio
Movie sound is working, but audio in sense conversations between people is not, but as soon as the adds are on,
all works as it should.
When I play the file in VLC (Channel 4 HD/4+1 HD), I can see when moving forward where the ADDS are (grey markers) which is quite unusual, never seen this before ..
ITV HD works fine, but when playing in VLC there are no markers when moving playback to see where the adds are ...

Try using "ts" ("pass" in config->stream->profiles) instead of "matroska".
I've had problems in the past with audio in mkv (I don't know if they are fixed or not), but some of the channels have multiple audio streams such as "audio described", so it might be that the channel has an audio described English audio, but the programme does not have the audio for the programme, but some adverts do have audio description hence you hear audio in the adverts.

Sorry, I meant the option in config->recording->dvr profile the "stream profile" is probably set to "matroska" so set that to "pass".

I've been using 'pass' to record Channel 4, and I still sometimes get recordings with no audio.

I think I have solved it:
Configuration - Recording - Digital Video Recorder Profiles:
Default profile: View level: Expert -> Recording file options -> Skip commercials UNTICK ....... !!!!
I now do not have "adds" segments showing on timeline when playing in VLC, but have sound in pass, I will try with MKV later ..
