Duplicate Autorec's don't show up as reruns in Upcoming Recordings

Added by Uli Rossgoderer almost 6 years ago

Somewhen in the last weeks/few months in the 4.3 development versions something changed, so that duplicate autorec's don't show up as reruns anymore. Instead the duplicate entries disappear from the upcoming recordings list completely. They also don't have a recording icon in the EPG overview.

4.2.7 still works as expected: duplicates are recognized as re-runs and displayed as such in the upcoming recordings.

Attaching screenshots for comparison from 4.2.7 and 4.3-1520

I'm assuming this is a bug?

It was removed as part of another fix (though the button is temporarily still there):

That fix was that the scheduler didn't always schedule the earliest recording first. So if you have ABC, and timeshift ABC+1 then in some setups it would almost always record on ABC+1 instead of on ABC. Also, not all reruns were marked consistently, it could work perfectly in some setups, and not in others. So, to fix both, I removed the reruns that had been detected, which also reduces memory overhead from keeping numerous timers that will never actually record.

However, is "rerun of" something that is useful to you? Or just something you noticed had changed?

I find rerun useful indeed.

Sometimes a show (with re-runs) overlaps with another recording that I'd like to do. With the previous behavior, I just disabled the overlapping show, and TVH would then automatically record the next available re-run.

In my setup (single tuner), it worked perfect.

Thanks for the example. That makes sense. Is this using "autorecs"?

I'll have to have more of a think. (But it will be late next week before I can take a look, sorry).

In the meantime, perhaps you could manually schedule a recording from the EPG tab?

If that works, perhaps one alternative may be to have a "find other showings (re-run) of this programme" button in DVR tab to allow easy scheduling?

I was thinking of a feature request to add "other times" to the epg...

Yes, this is using autorecs

Right now, I'm manually disabling/enabling the repeat shows in the upcoming recordings list

We've added a button in dvr upcoming and epg info to display a dialog showing alternative showings (duplicates) and a button to show related showings. From this you can then open an info dialog to schedule an alternative show. This info is based on epg info.

It's a couple of extra clicks compared to previous UI, but hopefully it should be useful to you.

In the future, we'll probably add some more useful features to the dialog to make it easier for you (quick record button, etc), but that will probably be a few weeks away.

I know Luis Alves wrote a bug report ([[https://tvheadend.org/issues/5402]])
But my situation is a little different.
I also do not see any "alternatives" for any shows, even though some are shown daily.
Is it because there is only a title and extra text with no episode information?

How do you get your tv guide? (SchedulesDirect?) Is the programme one with episode numbers or a generic show (such as news)?

Internally, tvheadend links some broadcasts together, so it's probable that those broadcasts aren't linked for whatever reason. Similar to how you might have "record series" for some programmes and not others.

Only OTA and no episode information. And never have "record series".
Enigma2 shows "Similar broadcasts", so I guess they are doing a title/subtitle comparison.

I am running 4.2.7-21 - tried upgrading to revision 37 and it seems the same.
I have a general autorecording set up that records everything between 6pm and 11pm.
It has been working flawlessly up until lately, but now it skips the news and treats it as a duplicate?
I have set duplicate handling to "Record all" but it still skips adding it to recordings.
It would be highly appreciated to get this back as even though it runs twice a day with the same name I want to record since it will have different content. Any easy fix to this?

Thanks
