tvheadend forum email leak!

I have a unique email address registered with this forum, used nowhere else!

Yesterday I received a spam message to it, and the only place the spammers could have harvested it was this forum.

I just realised that on my profile page, the email address was visible to the world, so I changed it. I don't understand why making it public would be the default? WTF!

I would agree with Paul that it's strange the email address is not private by default. I only just noticed and corrected the settings for my (also one-time) address too.

Doesn't legislation require positive approval of the disclosure of personal information?

in Europe, yes, this is a breach of GDPR.

GDPR is a stupid bureaucracy created from idiots without knowledge of any IT based.
This is another way to take money for nothing and spend time for loosing money.

If user cannot see settings itself and set it as he want, it is his problem.
Else no one can help him.

It's unfortunate that email visibility was default on.
The previous version of the Redmine software (which powers this site) didn't support setting that.

It has been changed now so by default email are hidden when users are created.

It does not affect any current users though.

Do we have to expect mass mail to all registered users,
even this with not take a look to one page settings,
with eleven options. /currently was less in previous version/
