Trying to get both tuners from Hauppauge WinTV DualHD working on Raspbian

Added by Garry Taylor about 6 years ago

Hi, I'm currently running TVHeadend 4.2.6-84 on a Raspberry Pi 3. I have a Hauppauge WinTV DualHD USB tuner attached, and it seems to do quite nicely, with the exception that I can only watch one channel at a time. I was hoping to set this box up for a very simple OTA DVR, and I chose the tuner in part because I thought (perhaps mistakenly) that both tuners were now supported under Raspbian. I am very new to this, so when I started the configuration, I saw

 - /dev/dvb/adapter0 [LG Electronics LGDT3306A VSB/QAM Frontend #0]
    + LG Electronics LGDT3306A VSB/QAM Frontend #0: ATSC-C #0
    + LG Electronics LGDT3306A VSB/QAM Frontend #0: ATSC-T #0

I thought I was looking at two tuners, but I am only using ATSC-T (for over the air) and am only able to tune one channel at a time (or if recording a show, only able to watch that show).

I also notice that it is reported as an LG tuner even though it is Hauppauge (perhaps it is the same chipset?) Any advice on how to use both tuners (which work in Windows) would be appreciated!

Please switch your repo from Bintray to apt.tvheadend.org, info here.

IIRC the kernel at one point only supported one of the tuners, you can use

sudo BRANCH=next rpi-update
to see if a newer kernel helps.
