No Channel User icon
Added by Anonymous about 6 years ago
I'm using IP TV (A1 TV) and have definded the Muxes, Services and Channels. So far, so good. I'm using Kodi as Frontend and it works well.
The problem is: I have no Channel icons.
In the Channel definition I have set the "User icon" to correct icons (e.g. [[http://chanlogos.xmltv.se/zdf.de.png]]).
In Kodi i see no Icons. Not in the Channel list and also not in the EPG guide.
I have no settings for icons in Configuration / General / Base - "Picon".
Image Cache is enabled. I've also cleaned the image (icon) cache.
I've also tried to clean data in Kodi and reimport them. Show icons in the channel-optopns in Kodi is active.
I see no icons.
For me the icons settings are a little bit confusing.
Next to the settings in General / Base there is a field "Icon URL" in the Mux-settings (it's empty for me).
There is also an Icon-field in the EPG Grabber Channel (which is set and it's the same like in the Channel-settings).
What I am doing wrong?
Why are there several settings for icons?
My System: Linux Mint 19 Xfce, HTS Tvheadend 4.2.6-42~g406ba887c, Kodi 17.6
P.S.: Tvheadend is great but IMHO the documentation is a little bit weak.

This is for use with string placeholders. e.g.
http://foo.com/%C.png

That's for icons available from XMLTV data. If you're not using that don't worry.

Can you see the icon in your browser being served by imagecache?
In Channels/EPG -> Channels highlight a column title, click the arrow then columns and finally tick Icon URL. You should see URLs or e.g, imagecache/1.png (access this via http://your.ip.addr:9981/imagecache/1.png)
If they load fine in your browser, you've hit Kodi's "won't load images that require auth" 'bug'. You need an anon user with web access for Kodi to load the icons.
Why are there several settings for icons?
Because there's many ways to add/manage icons

Please do help us improve it, it's simple markdown.

Yes, I see the imagecache-reference in the fields "Icon URL" in Channels and also the URL (e.g. http://localhost:9981/imagecache/18.png) is working in my browser and it shows me the correct logo.

Oh! I didn't find this bug in Kodi's ticket system (TRAC) by now.
Nevertheless I've created a new user (Configuration - Users - Access Entries) and set the password for this user to "*".
After chaning the settings for the PVR-Addon in Kodi I have logos in the channel list!
Thx!
BTW: I use "Reuse EPG from" for several cases (for SD and HD channels where I only have EPG for SD or HD and for regional versions of a channel, e.g. "ORF 2 W" and "ORF 2 B", etc.). For EPG data it is working fine but the icons (Icon URL) from EPG (XMLTV) are not set/updated to the channels where reuse EPG is active. In the tab Electronic Program Guide (Web-UI of the server) the "i"-Symbol doesn't show the channel logo for channels with reused data and also in Kodi the logos for channels with reused data are not shown. Basically this is clear because the channels (with reused data) itself don't have a logo-link. So I have to update the Icon URL for the channels with reused EPG data manually.

Well, let's see.
Currently I'm new at Tvheadend and so I have to learn many things before, but I'll try to make some improvements (afterwards).
