DVBSky S960CI USB not recognized correctly

Added by Di One about 6 years ago

Hi all,

I'm using a DVBSky S960CI USB box in combination with Intel NUC, LibreElec and Kodi. All in its latest version. Additionally I installed TvHeadend client and server. On the TvHeadend configuration mask called in the browser, it only finds 87 channels from which are some radio channels, other international channels I'm not interested in and only a handful interesting to me.

When I have a look at the tv-adapter tab, I don't see my device, but another one, that seems to use "DVB-S" instead of "DVB-S2" (see screenshot below).

When I enter
dmesg | grep dvb
on the shell, I see the following output:

[ 3.569755] usb 1-3: dvb_usb_v2: found a 'DVBSky S960CI' in warm state
[ 3.570540] usb 1-3: dvb_usb_v2: will pass the complete MPEG2 transport stream to the software demuxer
[ 3.570556] dvbdev: DVB: registering new adapter (DVBSky S960CI)
[ 3.571888] usb 1-3: dvb_usb_v2: MAC address: 00:18:42:54:96:0c
[ 3.699785] Registered IR keymap rc-dvbsky
[ 3.700141] usb 1-3: dvb_usb_v2: schedule remote query interval to 300 msecs
[ 3.700145] usb 1-3: dvb_usb_v2: 'DVBSky S960CI' successfully initialized and connected
[ 3.700175] usbcore: registered new interface driver dvb_usb_dvbsky
[ 7.263434] m88ds3103 6-0068: downloading firmware from file 'dvb-demod-m88ds3103.fw'

Any idea, how I can change the adapter to the one I'm really using and also retreiving all channels?
Before TvHeadend I used VDR as client / server with the same setup, but didn't had that problems.

Thanks and kind regards,

Dirk

Post result

dmesg |egrep 'dvb|DVB|TV|frontend|tv|DMI' && lsusb

also with sattelte you scan and is NIT (new transponders found in network) enabled

can you compare for example with KingOfSat or LyngSat are all transponders added

Sorry, the second part of your post I cannot get: What do you exactly mean with:
"also with sattelte you scan and is NIT (new transponders found in network) enabled

can you compare for example with KingOfSat or LyngSat are all transponders added"

Thanks and kind regards,

Dirk

Second part is to add missing transponders
automatically via NIT (Network discovery)
or manual via both sites

Thanks for your response. That was it, I added a ASTRA 19.2 entry, following this instructions: http://www.minipctv.de/tvheadendserver/tvheadend-konfigurieren/

Now it found all the channels I was looking for. EPG is not working, yet. Also three channels are not part of my channel list in the frontend, even if I added and activated them in the backend. I'll try around and replace them by another instance of that channel.

Thanks a lot and kind regards,

Dirk

DVBSky S960CI requires dvb-fe-ds3103.fw but did you compile and build the firmware for the Kernal and Linux Version? I use the DVBSky S952 which uses dvb-fe-ds3103.fw on first revision. This is where i messed up i just copied firmware to lib/firmware instead of compiling and building from source code. But DVBSky themselves now recommends you to use the LinuxTV Source Code from 16.04+ with newer Kernel than 4.4.0.
