EPG grabber priorities and empty fields
Added by Ludi K. over 6 years ago
Hi,
If I got it right, tvheadend >= 4.1 does not anymore merge the EPG from different sources. I assume this means that for a given event, all the fields come from the source with the highest priority.
But what about if a source with lower priority has data in a field and the same field of the higher priority EPG is empty. Will tvheadend keep the information of the lower priority EPG for that field or will the data of that field get erased, because that field in the higher priority data is empty?
I am asking because I wonder whether I should give to the EIT data a higher priority than to the xmltv data. The problem is that the EIT data sometimes does not include episode information. Thus, will the episode information, that was available in the xmltv data get erased?
Thanks in advance for any clarification.

From my tests, it seems that an already filled field gets erased if it is empty in the higher priority EPG source.
The actual behaviour however might be more complex.

Now I am wondering what happens for two EPG source that have the same priority? Does tvheadend fall back to the merging behaviour?
