Frequency mux scanning failures

Hi guys,

I'm trying to setup TVHeadend to stream TV in my house to the mobile devices and I got it more or less working. I added predefined network to get all the muxes but because it scanned the entire satellite I wanted to narrow it down to just handful number of muxes really. I got everything working, I was able to watch TV I have logs confirming that worked, then I removed the satellites and muxes and I added a new network but without prepopulating muxes. I added my own mux with all the details taken from kingofsat and scanned the frequency but this time it says "scan no data, failed". I removed that network and readded it again with the precofigured muxes but all the frequencies I used to get working now don't work. Scan fails on all of them from unknown reason. I checked the status of the card and when it scans the frequency SNR is = 0 which is not what I would expect. I tested the cable by connecting the satellite box to it and all works on the satellite box so nothing to do with the cable or LNB. I have no idea what I could have done wrong. In meanwhile my THHeadend was updated automatically but I reverted all to the previous version I got working but that didn't help. I also tried to change firmware for the card just now it still doesn't work. Card is OK as other channels (I don't care about) work as expected. Any hints ??

Some details:
OS: CentOS 7
kernel: 3.10.0-514.2.2.el7.x86_64
Card: Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA-HD-S2
Drivers/firmware: I tried initally original drivers 1.26.90.0 and now tried Tevii - same effect
TVHeadend version: 4.2.6-7~g5613551.el7.centos

I have no idea what to do next.

With other software is it possible to scan?

I tried "scan" and "dvbscan" but then realised they don't work with DVB-S2 and channels I'm after are DVB-S2.

I tried "w_scan" but I have no idea how to use it really to provide that specific type and frequency.

What other tools I can use?

I don't know if my channel file is correct however I was trying to scan Hot Bird 13C 11508.00V DVB-S2 8PSK 27500 3/4 so created a following entry:
S2 11508000 V 2750000 3/4 0 8PSK

and run:

./scan-s2 -x -2 -v -O S13.E0 channel

That worked perfectly. I see what channels it discovered and the list is appropriate for this mux. Signal and SNR is good:

So what does that mean and why suddenly it stopped working in TVHeadend ?

There is missing one ZERO on simbolrate 2750 must be 27500 on SCAN-S2,
zero is on upper line.
I guess you use vi crap, start use nano

It's not vim it's in general how scan-s2 translates the config file...

I added mux to TVHeadend and it discovered all services. I deleted all muxes now and tried again and I have an error:

I think the card is loosing some sort of "sync" as after I ran mumudvb again so it discovered services and added lots of new muxes at the same time and also removed the one I added above (doesn't exist anymore but have over 100 others).

Is network discovery enabled? NIT can found all transponders automatically.

scan-s2 is OK but you typed wrong transponder SR

S2 11508000 V 2750000 3/4 0 8PSK                                               # zero before 8PSK must be part of simbolrate where SR 2750,000 not 27500,000

Do you have diseq switch?

Also there is little chance to have static electricity.

No I don't have a diseq switch. I have 4 port LNB whereas only 2 are in use anyway.

My observation is:
  • if the card is just initiated it TVH won't discover any channels from some reason
  • if I will use software like mumudvb discovery works and then the card seemed to be fixed to the discovered transponder hence all the discovery suddenly starts working in TVH
  • I haven't checked yet that if I discover 11508V@27500 whether if I scan other frequency whether I will get different channels or the same as the card will be fixed to that particular transponder
  • I haven't had this problem before. It doesn't look like I changed anything so maybe I was just a bit lucky. All I wanted to do in the first place is to add the muxes I only care about but after the excercise I have done above it looks like as soon as the card is set to the TP it discovers ALL the "sub-frequencies" on this TP and discovers all the channels anyway
