Geographic Multiplex Update - Very specific

Hi to all,

This is not a bug or an issue as it's very specific.

The transmitter has been upgraded, and TVH needed a retune, unfortunately thanks to geography I have a feeling I'm the only person that uses this multiplex/transmitter on TVH and as such probably doesn't get updated quickly (it is UK/Guildford).

Now I'm not saying fix it please, I'm asking this slightly differently. As this is FOSS, I do understand that these can be missed. What I'm asking is this:

Where is the frequencies of the multiplexes around the UK found on the internet?
What is the file name (or database) that TVH needs to read to find this information?
Would I be able to fork/commit/submit those changes if I created an account (if any) on the repo?

I'm not asking 'how' to do this as I'm a quick learner, and don't mind breaking stuff, so long as it's on my own machine. I just need to know how to fix the issue, as at present they keep changing the frequencies in Guildford, and my only long term answer to this is fly to the US and live in Florida, as I know this is very specific to where I'm situated!

Right, I have found the right frequencies, even our UK websites haven't been updated, thank goodness for the HDHomerun browser page, the frequencies have changed completely, so obviously TVH isn't going to see anything!

However, I see that tvheadend and dtv-scan-tables are two separate repos, do I have to add my repo into linux, and apt-update/upgrade does it's bit, or should I have done something different?

I've edited code etc before on my own PC, but just getting to grips with Github, etc, and is the first time I'm contributing, so a pointer like before will be great!

There are changes over the coming months/year (thanks 5G mobile networks!) and will happily update this file, but first I want to know it works before I do a PR. so just point me what next and once I've tested at home, I will send my first PR.

You should be able to get all transmitter mux info direct from digitaluk here just enter your postcode/house no. and tick "Detailed view".

'Should' is quite right! I have looked, and relooked, (shows everything but the damn frequency!) I have also looked on other Freeview sites for the UK, and only have found COM4 Mux and COM mux frequency details and these corespond to what the HDHomerun is stating.

This 700MHZ clearance for 5G mobile has been handled badly, (didn't know anything about until I switched on Kodi, and went to BBC1 and got zip, did though get a shopping channel!), as I can only find information on what it was, and there is nothing on those frequencies hence that TVH correctly is reporting nothing on those MUX's. I can find the frequencies easily for last week (before retune!) but not AFTER!

This is why I stated that it isn't an issue or bug as TVH is working perfectly well. From what research I have done so far in finding these, and resorting to my setup as a guide (not ideal, but there we go!) I feel I can do this easily, it's only changing the frequencies etc on an already made file.

I just now need to test these out, I know what to change, I have already have a GitHub account and already made my own folk, I now just need to know how to merge the TVH and DVB-Tables repos to make a working local copy on my Ubuntu instance. This is the first time I have used Github, thankfully Nate from Team Kodi put a good overview last week on how Github is used, and took the mystery of modifying and editing code to a FOSS project. I have pull reuqests and commits nailed, as I have already tested that out so this is the final piece in the puzzle to actually do something for FOSS.

Once tested I shall then hopefully send the PR and commits, as I have now realised that the Guildford transmitter covers a wide area and is the 'local' relay for Crystal Palace. I am assuming then that Crystal Palace is suffering the same, and if so I can edit those files too if need be. I do realise that these DVB tables are only updated by contributors around the world, and are probably only updated when things like this happen.

Like I said earlier, just need a pointer, like before, and I should be able to nail this very shortly.

YES!!

Brilliant, I can easily update ALL UK tables with this then that was the final piece in the puzzle I needed, for the 700mhz clearance, if no-one else is doing it.

I know it's laborious, but am up to the task to update UK specific as 'all' I would need is UK postcodes (Google maps easily done!)

Is this something that is done already, or is it something that I can contribute from time to time?

Just export the digitaluk data for all frequencies for all transmitters in CSV - http://www.digitaluk.co.uk/coveragechecker/main/traderegion/anglia/main/ - Select the region, hit Go. Then click "Export all results".
