My box for OSMC+TVheadend and my problems with it.
Added by Piotr Psikuta over 6 years ago
Hi Guys,
I build my own media box with dvd player, respberry pi3 and dvb-t usb dongle Realtek 2832.
You can see my project here:
https://discourse.osmc.tv/t/raspberry-pi3-osmc-diy-media-box/71117
Everything is working except Tvheadend. I hope You will help me. I am staying in same place from last month.
When trying to activate addon Tvheaded HTSP client, it says “Access denied”.
But when I am going through web site setting page, everything is working, Tvheadend see my dvbt dongle, when I add new polish tv nets (i am giving correct parameters - checked it twice) my usb dongle is out of range and can not find any muxes and stations.
Please help me... I was building it to put in one box internet and DVB-T tv. You are my last hope....
I will just add at the end that I was checking that usb dongle on Ubuntu and it works perfectly with vlc.

If it works with VLC it'll work with Tvheadend. I have two of those dongles and they worked fine with tvh the last time I tried them.
- What version of tvh?
- Have you entered the values correctly? I know you say "i am giving correct parameters" but some drivers expect AUTO and some expect proper values.
- On your osmc Pi install w_scan (w-scan is the package name I believe) & do a scan, if that works so will tvh, you just have to get the right values.

Thank You for help.
1. OSMC version 2018.03-2, Linux kernel 4.14.26.2 TVH htsp verver client from OSMC app store, tvh htsp client 3.4.27
2.I was trying on auto, and on details from our official web:

OK you'd enter something like this then (assuming that info is correct)..
RE: My box for OSMC+TVheadend and my problems with it. - Added by Piotr Psikuta over 6 years ago
Mark I am very thankful for Your help.
Exactly, I have it settled like You wrote. But still 1 mux in queue to scan and never scans... Still when OSMC starts it shows information about Access Denied to htsp server of tvh.
Below screenshot.... any idea how to solve it? I both Raspberry only to make media box with dvbt. I really do not want to lose that fight:-(
And what is going on with that logs... only "unauthorized access" and in OSMC on TV "htsp access denied" maybe something wrong is not with settings but something before? In connection between tvh and osmc?
I am really loosing my energy for that...

And one thing changed just few seconds ago. In "tv adapters" I have change one option "NETWORKS" there was nothing, but I changed it now to my network "mux1". (attachment 1.jpg) And it changed one thing. Scaning which was waiting in queue for ages has finished. (attachment 2.jpg)
But... it finished with FAIL.... so still need help :-( (attachment 3.jpg)

Press the bar at the bottom of the webui, it should tell you the reason why it's not getting any data (you'll have to force a scan). Also check dmesg.
RE: My box for OSMC+TVheadend and my problems with it. - Added by Piotr Psikuta over 6 years ago
Dear Mark, I have checked the log from webui.
It says:
*"2018-04-03 00:14:00.867 htsp: 127.0.0.1 [ Kodi Media Center ]: Unauthorized access 2018-04-03 00:14:05.093 mpegts: 474MHz in mux1 - tuning on Realtek RTL2832 (DVB-T) #0 : DVB-T #0 2018-04-03 00:14:05.093 subscription: 0003: "scan" subscribing to mux "474MHz", weight: 6, adapter: "Realtek RTL2832 (DVB-T) #0 : DVB-T #0", network: "mux1", service: "Raw PID Subscription"* 2018-04-03 00:14:05.868 htsp: 127.0.0.1 [ Kodi Media Center ]: Disconnected 2018-04-03 00:14:05.869 htsp: Got connection from 127.0.0.1 2018-04-03 00:14:05.869 htsp: 127.0.0.1: Welcomed client software: Kodi Media Center (HTSPv25) 2018-04-03 00:14:05.870 htsp: 127.0.0.1 [ Kodi Media Center ]: Unauthorized access * 2018-04-03 00:14:10.093 mpegts: 474MHz in mux1 - scan no data, failed 2018-04-03 00:14:10.093 subscription: 0003: "scan" unsubscribing* 2018-04-03 00:14:10.871 htsp: 127.0.0.1 [ Kodi Media Center ]: Disconnected 2018-04-03 00:14:10.872 htsp: Got connection from 127.0.0.1 2018-04-03 00:14:10.873 htsp: 127.0.0.1: Welcomed client software: Kodi Media Center (HTSPv25) 2018-04-03 00:14:10.873 htsp: 127.0.0.1 [ Kodi Media Center ]: Unauthorized access 2018-04-03 00:14:15.874 htsp: 127.0.0.1 [ Kodi Media Center ]: Disconnected"
I do not understand why "scan no data"?
Maybe it is connected to informations which are showing on scree when OSMC just starts to desktop:
"Tvheadend HTSP Client - Access denied"
and just seconds later:
"Tvheadend HTSP Client - Server is unreachable"
Dear Mark if You have any idea I will be very thankful for help... Really do not know what is wrong?
And I have two more questions from previous posts:
1. How to install and use w_scan on osmc?
2. Where I will find dmesg?
RE: My box for OSMC+TVheadend and my problems with it. - Added by Mark Clarkstone over 6 years ago
Well, you have two problems.
- You're not receiving data from the dongle.
- You have a user auth error (this is easy to fix).
1. How to install and use w_scan on osmc?
dmesg and w_scan both require ssh access.
Login via ssh and use
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install w-scan netcat
Once installed do.
sudo dmesg | netcat termbin.com 9999
This will paste your dmesg to termbin & output a url
sudo service tvheadend stop w_scan -cCZ -ft
I assume you're in the Czech republic? Change CZ to your country code otherwise.
It should output signal information, you should see signal OK during the scan, make a note of the signals it OKs. Once the scan has completed, restart tvheadend.
sudo service tvheadend restart
Paste the dmesg link here.

I have done everything as You wrote... and I am afraid I do not have good news...:-(
Here link to dmesg:
http://termbin.com/vpwh
txt with log in attachment.
And as You see below, w_scan can not find any signal...:-(
what now?":-(
P.s. Thank You a lot for Your patient to me. :-)

Well, if w-scan can't find anything & you followed my instructions. It would suggest a hardware or driver problem.
The fact that w-scan fails too suggests it isn't tvh at fault here. You mentioned that it works on Ubuntu, what kernel version?
RE: My box for OSMC+TVheadend and my problems with it. - Added by Piotr Psikuta over 6 years ago
Hi,
Ehh it is very strange. On UBUNTU 16.04 with all current updates it works on VLC with DVBT addon soothly.
At the beginning I was thinking about driver, but can not find any additional driver for OSMC...
Second thing I am thinking is a power supply? Is that possible, that it looks ok in LSusb, it looks ok in webui TVH, but it have not enough power from Raspberry to make dvbt adapter working properly?
I am using in my project 4x USB powe supply with stable 7A on each USB. If it make sense, what is Your opinion, about making special USB Y cable. One usb connector to usb dvbt dongle, second Usb connector with only 2 data wires (pin 2 and 3 of usb conector) to Raspberry, and third with only Power wires (pin 1 and 4) to power suply? That makes full power availability on DVBT usb?

7A is more than enough. It should have no problems with power.

If you have a spare SD card try a minimal netinstall of the raspbian OS - link to download.
Once you've installed that you can follow the armhf instructions on the AptRepository to install tvh.
