problems logging, in, and login timer. IPv6?

Added by Paul M about 8 years ago

Hi,
I keep finding myself logged out from the web interface to my TVH server. I get the pop-up box from http basic authentication, but this doesn't work, I have to cancel and quickly reload before the pop-up. Then I have to click "New Login" and then I can login.

If I suspend my laptop, I may find I have to login again.

My TVH install is a plain vanilla Ubuntu 16.04 LTS, I simply followed the instructions to set it up, including the driver.

Perhaps the only unusual thing is that I am dual-stack IPv6 + IPv4 at home, the TVH server has static IPv4 and IPv6 addresses, with appropriate entries in my internal DNS server, so it has the URL http://tvh.home.example.co.uk:9981/

Could TVH not like the fact my laptop's IPv6 address is going to change due to IPv6 privacy features?

Is there a way to set a longer logout timer on TVH?

thanks for any ideas,
Paul

I'm new to the world of TVH, so please forgive my utter ignorance, I just built a prototype from an old core2-quad Q6600 system, 4GB RAM, and a 750GB Barracude drive, all parts I had lying around; the only new part is a twin S2 card from TBS.

p.s. in authentication, going into expert settings, I see that http digest authentication is on (the default) and cookie expiration is 7 days.

I tried removing the IPv6 address in my internal DNS and it seems to have improved the situation, I don't get asked to login nearly as often.
