Advice on trimming out encrypted and duplicate channels and keeping everything up-to-date.

Added by A L over 6 years ago

Hello.

After quite a few teething problems, I have finally got TVH set up with my Digibit R1 SAT>IP Server.

I am now able to stream live TV to all my Libreelec clients without problem.

My previous PVR system was based on DVB-T and I have immediately noticed that satellite is a bit less than straightforward when it comes to channel management (my sat dish is pointing at 28.2e).

I followed the initial TVH wizard and have ended up with lots of duplicate channels, along with lots of channels that are encrypted.

I would be really grateful if someone could advise how to sort this out.

Should I wipe all my channels and start from scratch?

I did also read somewhere that Bouquets can be used to keep all channel changes up-to-date too (for frequency changes, plus removing and adding channels) - how do you do that?

Advice would be very much appreciated.

Thanks

Have since realised that I need to uncheck the "map encrypted" box so now have only unencrypted channels.

However, I still have the problem of both duplicate channels (not for all but a lot of them) and all regions for the channels (like BBC1), whereas I only want BBC1 London.

I assumed that bouquets were the way to go but apparently not.

Here is what I have done so far:

  • Scanned for all Muxes on 28.2e.
  • Enabled the BSkyB Bouquet 5 - HD England: London / Essex bouquet.
  • Edited the bouquet, so that it is set to automap, unticked everything under mapping options and left create tags as "crate boutique tag"
  • I then went to the map services tab and pressed map all services.

I have also tried a different bouquet (England HD: London/London), having first erased all the channels, but I get the same issue.

What do you think I am doing wrong?

That's for the Sky EPG - you don't need this.

  • Edited the bouquet, so that it is set to automap, unticked everything under mapping options and left create tags as "crate boutique tag"

- Most of this is not required, you only need to tick automap (should be enabled by default).

  • I then went to the map services tab and pressed map all services.

This isn't required either. when you enable the bouquet it will automatically map them for you. If it isn't just play the mux that provided the bouquet info - the home transponder of freesat is 11425 H now.

I have also tried a different bouquet (England HD: London/London), having first erased all the channels, but I get the same issue.

This is the freesat bouquet, the one you want. You only need ONE bouquet, enabling two will cause duplicated channels.

What do you think I am doing wrong?

You absolute genius!

Cannot thank you enough - I had to manually play the MUX but that prompted all the channels to appear.

Just a couple of other queries, if that is ok:

1. There are still a couple of duplicate channels appearing with the same channel number - not most of them, as before, but I take it I have to just manually remove those?

2. I still have lots of other BBC regions appearing. Why is this? I assumed that the whole point of the London bouquet was to only provide London regions of channels.

You can yes. But before you do that you may want to "detach the channels from the bouquet" so that updates don't wipe out your changes. The only downside to this is that you'll no longer get bouquet updates and will have to do them manually.

2. I still have lots of other BBC regions appearing. Why is this? I assumed that the whole point of the London bouquet was to only provide London regions of channels.

If they're on the same channel number these are dups and can be removed, if they're higher up those are included in the bouquet and can be removed.

There are a few tiny bugs with bouquets that I believe are resolved in the upcoming 4.4 (current dev 4.3).

Everything is working fantastically now and a few duplicates seems to be a small price to pay for a fully automated system.

Especially looking forward to 4.4 now.

Thanks again for the assistance.
