Changing user interface level has no effect
Added by Wild Penguin almost 7 years ago
Hi,
I've been having this problem for quite a while: I can not change the default user interface leve. Basic is not enough 90% of the time and I'm tired of changing it constantly to a higher level. Supposedly, I should be able to change that.
I though it might have been something getting hosed up on my configuration, but recently I had a hard drive failure and needed to re-install tvheadend. The issue persists in 4.2.5-2 and also in 4.3.r912.g5fe3ebd48-1 (I'm using Arch and it's AUR ebuilds).
I'm trying to change the user interface level in the general settings and also per-user, but none have effect (althouh the setting is saved).
Also, setting "persistent interface level" will essentially lock one out of changing the level, since the only way to actually change it that will work is next to the help button.

Do you have administrator account?

Yes, of course.
I have one account who has basically all rights and passwordless non-streaming (EDIT: I meant streaming) accounts for KODI (both are restricted to my personal LAN computers only).

Hi,
sorry to bump, but am I really only one with this issue?
The Basic level just is not enough 95% of the time and it is annoying to constantly manually change to expert (or advanced).
I've since reset my tvheadend installation at least once (hard drive crash) and the issue still persists.

In Settings > General what is set for Default view level:

Hi,
It is set to expert.
The user logged in has also set expert in user settings.
Neither seem to have any effect (save removing changing UI level altogether as said in my OP).

Hi!
Finally found a fix for my issue! I stumbled upon this bug report: https://tvheadend.org/issues/5150?next_issue_id=5148&prev_issue_id=5152
And it helped me to solve this. In case someone is in the same boat, there is a (possible) workaround: delete default user "*" in case you have it. At least in my case that allowed the user interface level setting to be actually applied!
