TVH 4.3 EPG is missing just a *couple* of channels from the "EPG Grabber Channels" list. Channels are live, and in my data -- just don't appear in EPG.

Added by a henry almost 7 years ago

I've installed

    HTS Tvheadend 4.3-861~g715a4a844

I've got a HDHomeRun & a SchedulesDirect account.

I've setup networks, scanned muxes & grabbed channels.

My EPG is populated with accurate channel & program data.

It's missing a couple of channels.

My grabber's channels data @

    /usr/local/etc/tvheadend/epggrab/xmltv/channels

includes five channels I know as "54_{1,2,3,4,5}".

I can tune to each of them with an HDTV tuner off the same antenna feed as the HDHR sees; the signals are strong & stable.

I see all five of them listed in TVH's webUI

    Configuration
        > Channel/EPG
            > EPG Grabber Channels

listing.

But they simply never show up in the

    Configuration
        > Channel/EPG
            > Channels

listing, which skips over them.

I see all my OTHER channels before & after, just not the "54_"'s

...
KBCW-DT 44.1
KSTS HD 48.3
KCSM 60.1
KCSMF24 60.2
Jazz-TV 60.3
...

Everything seems to be working. I don't notice any errors. I can use this TVH setup as a Kodi backend. No programming errors afaict.

Just 5 missing channels.

Why aren't these channels getting added to / picked up by the EPG? Expecially when everything else is?

Tvh might not have automatically detected an EPG match for the channels.

If you can see the epg source in grabber channels you can assign the source to your mapped channels manually.

Edit the channels (in channels/epg) with missing EPG & set the EPG source.

There aren't any :-/

In channels/epg, all channels display have a mapping to a tunable channel #, and an EPG source.

That's what the mystery is. THere's no trace of the "54_s" -- even as 'empty, but manually assignable' options.

I see I can "add" a channel, but iiuc I have to assign a service to it. And none of the services have those call letters.

In that case you need to manually add the frequencies of the missing channels before they'll show up as services.

Could you point to a howto on that?

Guessing, I added a new mux at the center frequency, but am not clear on how I get a service to appear from that.

You add the mux with the correct frequency (search online with your location), wait for tvh to scan it & hopefully it should find your missing services :).

I found the frequency, 686MHz (https://transition.fcc.gov/fcc-bin/tvq?call=KQEH)

I created a MUX @ that freq.

I waited, nothing.

I forced a scan, it rescanned all -- and again ignored that MUX/freq/channel.

What can be so unique about this one channel group that TVH can't deal with it?

On my TV, I'm staring right at the channel. Strength is "74%" ...

Does your TV show what frequency it's receiving it on?

That page lists "Transmit Channel: 50 686 - 692 MHz" which means it could be on any of them!

Does your homerun pick it up directly as well? What error do you get from the webui during a scan?
