Best Setup For Transcoding With Tvheadend
Added by sirk98 qwerty98 almost 7 years ago
Hello dear friends,
in other message I discuss on the transcoding feature in tvheadend, but after more test I'm not able to resolve my configuration problem. I try directly with ffmpeg and I see that the problem still remain .
Here the link post's : [[ https://tvheadend.org/boards/4/topics/29994 ]]
Can someone help me to find the best setup to build a server that can transcode live streams with low cpu consumption ?
The server will work into a network that have :
10/200 clients
20/50 channels
Can someone propose some example of cpu, gpu that can help me to find the best setup .
Thanks for any reply,
best regards sirk98

The latest Intel chips work well with vaapi gpu encoding and latest tvheadend has built in codec profile for encoding. Not sure how many streams you'll be able to do at once.
I believe they were also working on NVENC for newer nvidia cards, I don't see the codecs in mine, but I probably didn't compile in nvenc support or have the header files available on my system to do so.
My mobo is an embedded bay trail quad core cpu that cost about $60 or $70US when new. I can transcode 1080 mpeg2 to 1080 h.264 at 2.75x faster than realtime. SD streams are maybe 6-7x. I forget off the top of my head.

Add some specific parameters to presentation.
Bitrate or quality.
Vaapi quality is poor then QSV on Intel GPU.

Ok that's right .
I try to set the parameters with different combinations without success .
With linux shell the GPU is working .
Here other images .

Thank for the link,
with a little check I see that more file are missing.. But the problem is that I have to patch kernel and so on...
I will try and send the result... Another problem is that with old kernel my dvb t card will not work .
But just for a test I will reinstall server and start it again .

Goodmorning everyone.
I would like to know the Mustang-200 i7 card how many channels can it transcode to h265?
And then you always need a good video card or just that?
My PC for transcoding:
Ryzen x1800
4x8gb ddr4 2400
2xSamsung MZ-V6E250BW raid
Mainboard: Msi x370 gaming pro carbon
Thank you for reply, and best regards.
