How to clear the EPG without clearing autorecs/timers?

Added by Chris Beasley almost 7 years ago

I'm having trouble with my 'production' setup in that the EPG is completely wrong, yet a test system running from the Sat>IP is showing the correct times/dates and programs.

I don't see a way to clear the current EPG so that I can start a fresh... Is this possible?

I find that I occasionally need to do this. Here are the steps I take:

  • Disable all current Autorecs. (Not really necessary, but if the guide is messed up, sometimes this means that DVR events were created incorrectly for some Autorecs; this will force them to be recreated later.)
  • Stop Tvheadend.
  • Delete the EPG database. (The file is named epgdb.v2, and it is usually located in the .hts/tvheadend/ directory of the user that Tvheadend runs as.)
  • Start Tvheadend.
  • If the EPG Grabbers do not automatically run shortly after Tvheadend starts, manually re-run the EPG Grabbers.
  • After the grabbers have all run (and their inputs parsed), your EPG should be depopulated.
  • Re-enable your Autorecs to force the DVR events to be recreated.

If your EPG database becomes corrupted, or you switch grabbers, the above will probably help clear up any issues, and wipe out stale EPG data. I also find it the best way to ensure that the guide and DVR events are properly updated after the switch to/from Daylight time.

(To easily change the "Enabled" status of your Autorecs, on the WebUI change the display to show all of your Autorecs on one page. To do this, go to the Digital Video Recorder > Autorecs tab; then in the lower-right change the Per page setting to All. Next, select the first Autorec. Then, Shift+Click on the last Autorec; this will select all of them. Now you can select Edit in the toolbar, and select the checkbox next to the "Enabled" setting, and toggle that to your preferred state. After selecting Save, all of the selected Autorecs will have their "Enabled" status modified.)

thanks, did this as well as deleting all the muxs as I only had 5 autorecs in the end... Now has rescanned and all mapped / timed correctly!
