No video or audio when press watch tv button tvheadend on windows pc
Added by John Murton almost 7 years ago
Can someone advise me of a link/tutorial that can show me how to show what I have scanned in via tvheadend, on the Win 10 pc at the same time, like in this picture, using the "watch tv" button on the right top menu area.
I have tvheadend up/running on my win 10 pc and linked to my libreelec K1 plus, but would like to see the channels playing on the pc, within tvheadend, like this, to ensure they are working ok.
I can sometimes get audio, then no video, or video that immediately displays but then stops. However it all plays perfectly on the stand alone android box using libreelec?
In this instance I am trying to play a satellite Optus D3 test tuning channel audio and video feed (mpeg 2) which is fta
I sort of figured a work around, using the "play" button on normal channel list epg, setting VLC as the default, sending it as an m3u,and it can play it that way on the desktop.
The inbuilt player in tvheadend still won't display for me though.
The version is HTS Tvheadend 4.1.2415 ~ LibreELEC Tvh-addon v8.1.109
Thank you

This is a browser problem
not connected with TVHeadend

I'm sorry, but perhaps I'll try again?
If it is a browser problem, then why can I fully see and utlilise tvheadend in these browsers, Edge, IE, Firfox, Chrome, and the new Chromium Version 64.0.3275.0 (Official Build) (64-bit)?
I see tvheadend perfectly via http://10.0.0.31:9981 in them all, and can do everything, except make it play a picture using the "Watch Tv" button on the top right menu bar..no video or audio works.
However, if I click the play button of the channel in the left side menu in tvheadend, I can play the channel via the M3u file that works in VLC.
So, what am I doing wrong, in that tvheadend "watch tv " button, keeps saying :Loading..The video could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed, or because the format is not supported".
Maybe this shows my problem better?
Thanks for trying to help..

You are not understanding something simple
browser do not use external player
it use HTML5 supported build-in player with need specific codec for audio/video
Youtube for example use specific video/audio codecs
but also and external player with support also DASH
Have a nice reading for HTML5.

Thanks again for your reply, and no, I definitely am not understanding the problem, and freely admit it....I apologise for not being up with all this, but I am trying.
What browsers then, does the Live TV Player in tvheadend work with please..surely others simply use the same browsers I do, and are also shown on that chart?
All my browsers are the latest version, and all on auto update.
Sorry if my questions seem feeble.

More easy to understand.
Browser include basic player, but you need extended player
example JWPlayer JSMpeg and other

add new issue for this

saen is correct, just not being very tactful :p.
An external player (VLC for example) has built-in codecs, so it'll have no issues playing any stream directly on your machine.
The built-in player doesn't support many of these codecs unfortunately.
But please DO open an issue.

To be more correct and exact
Some browsers do not support also container caring audio/video streams (TS MKV MP4 OGG)

Thanks for the extra replies.
Unfortunately newbies like me have to start from somewhere, and are not blessed with the wealth of knowledge of those others that have used/played with this gear for so long.
I did try google up some info before I posted, as well as attempt different ways to make it work when I got to it doing it via VLC..probably luck more than anything.
The only reason really, was that tvheadend had that "Watch TV' button, and I thus assumed (obviously incorrectly) that the inbuilt player can play the streams.
I'll try download and install those others mentioned, and I assume(??) that they still play inside that same "watch tv" button, but they just add the codecs needed?
The only reason I asked here is that I also posted in the libreelec forums, and they all told me to post here for the help..I'll let them know people like me may need to ask and learn things about tvheadend first, before coming here and asking basic questions.
Thanks.

Those are plugins for web pages - there is no way you can "install" them per-se, they need to be included in the source code. A feature request "issue" might get the ball rolling.

Being passed about isn't very nice, it's just like being on the phone to a company and the script reader on the other-end says "you have the wrong department" & puts you in queue only to be sent back again after a long wait!
Libreelec has a lot more people than tvheadend does, you may sometimes find it can take days to get help here, mainly because we just don't have the people.
Don't ever feel ashamed of asking questions, even if basic! If people know they'll reply.

Thanks for the reply Mark..
I have all but given up on this, as it is far too hard to get replies anywhere about this. Obviously some people must make it work ok, as I have seen images in my searches with it playing inside tvheadend, much like this!!
I appreciate it that the user base may be small and I may need to be more patient.

HI,
Hard to believe that with so many home nas type systems, servers, android boxes, etc, that I can't get any answers to this on libreELEC forums, tvheadend forums, or my local Aussie forums on the subject?
I have asked what alternatives to perhaps look at, and have been advised to look at these
ArgusTV
DVB Link
DVB Viewer
NextPVR
MediaPortal
ServerWMC
Thanks

Sorry but you need to understand what you ask and what answers you get mean.
You situation is "I have a powerful car, but it's hard to push it to hill, because I never fill it with fuel"
Keep read, and most important learn and understand.

Thanks saen acro.
I always thought that the purpose of these type of forums was to share knowledge amongst its members, but it does not seem to be the case for me.
Saying I should "Keep read, and most important learn and understand." is fine if you have the knowledge to understand the processes in the first instance.
Should we simply tell someone whom doesn't know how , to say, turn on and get a computer running on a search engine, to answer them by saying "there is a power point, attach your power supply to it?"
Sorry mate, but I thought a tvheadend dedicated forum like this would be a helpful spot where newbies would be made welcome, and nudged along a little, like other technical forums do.
Looks like a good time to tell people that the hobby and technical areas of understanding tvheadend is not the place for a novice and learner.
Mods..please feel free to delete this help message.
Thank you.

Sorry you feel this way, it is the intention to help new people as much as possible, at least for me.

I'll be more than happy to help you via a Teamviewer session if you'd like, just e-mail me & we'll setup a time. [email protected]. I've done this with quite a few people on here over the years & am more than happy to assist you as well.

Why? You're being honest & none threatening, so there's no need.
