Added by Josu Lazkano almost 7 years ago
Hello,
I am looking for a low power tvheadened server.
I see there are lots of fruit Pi devices available.
Anyone is using any of them? I need a 3 simultaneous streams and video transcoding for them.
Kind regards.

Not using Raspberry/Banana/Orange Pi
But have been testing Odroid-C2 as a server with 6 HD tuners (Dual and Quad HDHomeRun). Testing with multiplexed stations and some times recording up to 15 OTA shows at a time
Have no need for transcoding as all Kodi frontends are wired GB connections
BTW: Also runs frontends(Libreelec) better then AMD Phenom II with Nvidia graphic adapter
Description: Ubuntu 16.04.3 LTS
Release: 16.04
Codename: xenial
Linux tvh 3.14.79-116 #1 SMP PREEMPT Tue Sep 26 01:19:06 BRT 2017 aarch64 aarch64 aarch64 GNU/Linux

Thanks Brent,
And what about disk IO? The Odroid have not SATA interface, just USB.
I see that Banana Pi M3 device have very good specs: http://www.banana-pi.org/m3.html
Regards.

Using NFS mount. Has 1GB NIC. Board also has eMMC and SDcard for disk.
Biggest issue I've run into are Continuity counter errors on the tuners. I've been told by this list it's an indication of network issues. Did put each HDHR on it's own switch but the errors haven't gone completely away. I have a feeling some of it is caused by broadcasters (USA MPEG2).
Find it stunning even with 10-15 recordings running the load average is so low. I also give much credit to tvheadend developers.
I've got a mythtv server running right next to it(24x7 since 2005). Between Msql, generating previews, comm. flagging or transcoding don't use either anymore) it can heat the house

I use Raspberry Pi with 3 DVB-T tunners. Runs without problems. See here for details:
