[FIXED] Help - tvheadend crashes when stream is stopped.

Added by shaun - about 7 years ago

Hi I've been successfully using tvheadend for 3-4 months no problems, two days ago I updated and since I've had problems.
I've re installed the whole server from scratch and still the same problem. I can play the stream no problem locally in vlc, but when I stop the stream tvh crashes and i get (There seems to be a problem with the live update feed from Tvheadend. Trying to reconnect...) I'm having to stop tvh and start it again to get access.

Also If i try to pull the stream to xtreme tvh crashes, I have tried the stream externally and it works fine again when the stream is stopped tvh crashes.

Can any one help me sort this?

Hi Mark,

Just run

sudo apt-get install tvheadend-dbg;sudo service tvheadend restart

When it crashes again, open a new issue with the new (full) crash :)

Now it's a waiting game, Jaroslav is a pretty busy guy, but he's generally quick with the fixes when he gets spare time!

For now, go back to the older version that worked for you!

Lol as simple as that go back to the older version :P

I don't suppose you could give me a numpty guide for me?

if i could go back 4-7 days the problem wasn't there then.

Thanks for your help

You just define a version with apt.

https://askubuntu.com/questions/138284/how-to-downgrade-a-package-via-apt-get

So, an example,

apt-get install tvheadend=4.3-592~gb9df034e6~stretch
apt-get install tvheadend-dbg=4.3-592~gb9df034e6~stretch

use

sudo apt-cache show tvheadend*
to see available versions (use the full version string).

Thanks Mark

So I give it a go,

apt-get install tvheadend-dbg=4.2.4-7~ge1e1b46~xenial

The following packages have unmet dependencies.
tvheadend-dbg : Depends: tvheadend (= 4.2.4-7~ge1e1b46~xenial) but 4.2.4-10~g0771e34~xenial is to be installed
E: Unable to correct problems, you have held broken packages.

:(

Thanks in advance
Shaun

Ok, in that case, do

sudo apt-get remove tvheadend-dbg
& try the above again :)

RE: Help - tvheadend crashes when stream is stopped. - Added by shaun - about 7 years ago

Not to worry Mark I have managed to do it.

for those who come to need this including myself at a later date you need to install both:-

apt-get install tvheadend=4.3-592~gb9df034e6~stretch
apt-get install tvheadend-dbg=4.3-592~gb9df034e6~stretch

Thanks for you help Mark much appreciated TVH is all systems go again, i shall go to bed now and watch tvh.
