second dvb-s2 box stopps working after a while

Hello everybody,

first of all, I'm sorry for my poor english.

I'm running tvheadend 4.2.2 on rpi3 for more than 2 years. Since last year I changed tuners. Now I'm using 2 identical DVBSky S960 V2 USB boxes.
Every box is working fine, if it's used alone.
If they are used together, I'm able to start 2 different recordings only for few minutes. After a while (10 minutes or so) of not using the two devices contemporaneous and in case of two simultaneous recordings the log shows

subscription: 0300: service instance is bad, reason: No input detected

2017-08-25 00:57:43.055 subscription: 0300: No input source available for subscription "..." to channel "..." 

2017-08-25 00:57:43.055 dvr: Recording unable to start: "...": No input detected

The message does not depend on the channels!
This behavior crept up some weeks ago. I don't see a context to an update or a reconfiguration.

Can anyone tell me what to do?

If you restart tvheadend do they work again? If not, try running w-scan on both after stopping tvheadend. If one (or both) fail with w-scan to find any muxes, in other words you don't see 'signal ok' for at least one freq, that suggests there is something up with the tuner(s).

Hello Mark,

thank you for answering.

A restart doesn't solve the issue. What helped me some days ago was
  • unplugging one device
  • starting a recording (not necessary I presume)
  • stopping tvheadend
  • plugging the second device again
  • restarting tvheadend

After this procedure, I was able to record two shows. That's why I supposed, all was ok now. Half a day later I was reported, not to be able to record two shows at the same time again.
So the problem seems to occur spontaneously, what makes the search difficult. I own a third box of the same kind, but the problem stays the same.
Sounds weird, doesn't it?

Any other suggestions?

Try the linked input workaround (in the tuner settings). I suspect the driver is buggy.

there are two links thinkable. Which device should be linked?
Or shall I link the devices crosswise?
