Search using Network ID only, auto-update/delete of channels & series linking

Added by Chris Beasley over 7 years ago

Hi

Now that I know that TVheadend has OpenTV grabbers for Sky NZ, I was wondering whether anyone could point out if Tvheadend also supports searching for channels by NetworkID, auto-updating or deleting of channels and also series linking?

For context, NetworkID is a descriptor code which a provider has been issued, e.g. Sky NZ is 169. Within some other programs you can utilise this networkID to scan transponders only for channels linked to this networkID and therefore populate the system with only these channels, e.g. NZ satellites contain both freesat and sky, I only want the sky versions as the freesat ones are not in HD and it would be good to not have to worry about them turning up on a scan.

Auto-updating/deleting is as its name suggests the process of the system scanning the assigned networkID at a user defined schedule for any changes in channels. Again, Sky NZ often bring up pop up channels, especially movie and sports ones often and having an automated way to have this occur would be great.

Finally, does tvheadend have any form of series linking for recording purposes? Most sky streams have series link ids to enable the official boxes to link and it would be great if this was exposed in TVheadend for other front ends to access.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Chris

Network ID, yes it does.
If your provider uses bouquets like Freesat & Sky/OpenTV do here in the UK, you can use them [bouquets]. If not, you're stuck to manual updates. Note that in order for bouquets to be discovered by tvh, the required grabber must be enabled beforehand. Additionally, in some cases you may need to play a mux [that has the data], if the data isn't fully downloaded before a timeout occurs.

Bouquets are usually stored on a home transponder [you can search for it online, something like:

Sky NZ home transponder

Series record, usually yes.

Wonderful, yes Sky NZ has a network ID and about 8 transponders that have a number of bouquets running on it. I've been using MediaPortal with the Sky TV plugin developed by DJBlu and that captured NetworkID'd bouquets and populated the system based on that... if it can auto-update then fantastic!

I'll look to give this a try properly, just need to move my tuners from my windows essentials box to a vmhost and pass them through!
