Tuning doesn't work in TVH - w-scan works
Added by Nicolas Bellardie over 7 years ago
Hello everybody
I was about to post this:
Upgraded to Libreelec (8.0.1 if memory serves). Now TVH cannot seem to recognize muxes even entered manually.
I know my adapters (2 of them, DibComm 7000PC) and enabled and assigned to a network.
I tried:
- using the country default muxes (FR). Gives 40 muxes, none of which scans OK (all failed). The again this method has never worked in the past.
- adding frequencies manually, since I know the output by w-scan. Fails 100% of the time
- sacrificing a chicken
- force a scan for the network
- changed to DVB-T or DVB-T2
Nothing works.
Of course everything was working flawlessly before the upgrade.
TVH 4.2 for those curious among you. But the same with 4.0.
And suddenly, it's working. Another thing I tried? Changing the adapter name. No space, no funny characters like ':'. Not sure this is what changed TVH's mind, but at least my installation is working now.

- Scanning isn't instant, especially if you've manually added muxes - it can take up to 5-10 mins.
- Dibcoms can be really fussy with tuning information. In my experience, they expect all values to be set (not left at AUTO). Similarly make sure the info used is correct and has the correct number of zeros, most people enter something like 698000 which won't work, an additional three zeros are needed, so 698000000.
- Changing the adaptor name wouldn't have done anything, it may appear like it has, but it hasn't :p
- The pre-defined lists are always out of date.

Scanning was more or less instantly telling me it had failed. Dibcomm worked fine in the end with just the bandwidth information filled in. I entered the Hz number like a thousand times before it eventually worked so statistically it should have been right before that :). Maybe changing the name didn't do anything but I always do that in the end out of despair and it ends up working, maybe for other reasons, like the "buddy you've spent enough time settting this shit up, you deserve to have it work" algorithm, obviously implemented in TVH.
Anyways, it always ends up working but it always seems like I'm doing the same thing over and over again until it works. Go figure.
