Pi Raspbian set-up not seeing network HDHomerun Tuner
Added by Darren Hill over 7 years ago
Hi all,
I'm trying to set up a Pi2 as a general purpose media server, and TVHeadend is giving me some problems. I've got it installed fine from the repo (using Raspbian Jessie Lite and the release version), but it cannot see my tuner (a HD Homerun Connect with a static IP address). If I go to configuration > DVB Inputs > TV Adapters the list is empty (I just see the TV adapters folder, with nothing below it).
The HDHR is accessible fine from my network via Kodi and also via their own app on my tablet, and if I set up OSMC with the TVHeadend server from their app-store that can see it too, so there's nothing wrong in the hardware or network side. But I want to have this as part of a wider server (using OpenMediaVault to give me SMB, NFS and Plex as well) so I'd prefer to be able to install under Raspbian or the OMV image set-up.
So my question is what else do I need to install and/or configure to get TVH to see my tuners on such an install? I've seen a lot of stuff around the net about dvbhdhomerun and other stuff, but I think that's all older stuff for previous versions of TVH as I've seen some comments too that it's not needed. In any case I can't get any of it to build properly on the Pi2 via SSH. Is there some up to date tutorial or guidance on how to get TVH to talk to a HDHomerun when run under Raspbian?

It should see it fine. Are you missing packages? Have you tried the latest 4.1 to see if that fairs better?
You can use the 4.1 packages for armhf that I created not long ago today. You can get them from here I'm looking into cross compiling armhf on doozer.io to automate this until we have an armhf target.
Edit: doh, forgot the link.

The missing packages was my question. There's obviously something missing to link the two together, but no idea what it is.
The install was the release version (via apt-get). I tried stable and unstable, but there doesn't seem to be packages for Jessie there. I'll try the ones you linked to - i presume they just install via dpkg -i? I guess i need the first one, with the second being a debug version?

Have you installed libhdhomerun? Or is it statically linked to your TVH build?

I just installed TVheadend. No idea if it's linked or not - as i said it's installed via apt-get from the repo. I'll see about installing that first and then if it doesn't help I'll try your version.
I'm still learning Linux/Raspbian as you can probably tell

OK installed your 4.1 version, and that's seeing the tuners without needing anything else installed (although as DVB-C, but a quick set-up tweak fixed that as they're DVB-T). But we're underway now finally...
Thanks for the help
