Can't stream/record on Synology 416Play
Added by R. Koebrugge almost 8 years ago
I used TVheadend on my old Synology, which was working fine. Now I have a new NAS, a 416Play also from Synology. At this installation (version 4.1.2389) I can't stream and record programms. The network and muxes were find perfectly, but when I want to play a program from the Configuration->Channel screen, I don't get passed the login popup. This is through the web browser, but also from witin playing a network stream on VLC Media player.
Also, the record button is disabled although I setup DVR the same as on my old NAS. The directories are the same and the settings also. I can't find the reason for this?
I even thought that I was on a different stream and DNS wasn't working properly, so I also did some tests on the IPv4 address. The streaming popup says 'tvheadend', so i should be at the right server.
I tried to find the logging/debugging but this shows me no information at all. At the web UI at the bottom the loggings shows no access denied logs or connection attempts. When I output logging to a file (runtime setting) there is also no logging records displayed. I'm a bit stuck here, what to do? Anyone any ideas on getting TVheadend to work?

Make sure the user account permissions are correct. Getting a user prompt is normal, especially if you don't have a wildcard account set up.

Thanks Mark! I solved it by adding all the rights for a test. Just managed to check a stream and also record something.

Something odd is happening when I record programs. It starts great, but all the record attempt were not finished. TVHeadend is crashing and I can't find why.
The Synology logging at the Package Center is showing me no logging at all.
The logging of TVHeadend (at the GUI logging at the bottom of the screen) is showing me errors (Continuity counter error), but not something I can link to crashing TVHeadend?
I tried to export the logging to a file at the Debugging settings. I doesn't matter what I fill in at the Debug log path, it just never saves a log file. I tried several directories and files like '/var/tmp/tvheadend.log', '/var/services/homes/tvheadend-testing/log/tvheadend.log' (the directory where recordings were saved) or '~/tvheadend.log'.
What is the best way to find the source of my problem? How can I log to a file, so that I hopefully can see what is going wrong or what the reason is that TVHeadend was stopped.. Is writing the log file a permission issue? I can't even find the logging of this error :-S.
Current logging from the moment I recorded a test:
