Is it possible to map EIT EPG data to different channels? (would make life easier in New Zealand)

I've got TVHeadend running well on an old netbook with 2 DVB-T tuners (and what a fantastic piece of software it is!)
I live in New Zealand, where the full Freeview EPG used to only be available via MHEG-5, with the EIT guide containing only Now/Next information. That has now changed, and a full 7 day guide is available via EIT. Unfortunately, that only works well for some regions of New Zealand. There's a full description of the problem in this thread:
http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=126&topicid=205124
Essentially, the 7 day EIT data is broadcast to the whole country, but because there are 4 different region-specifc versions of some channels (which broadcast exactly the same programmes, but region-specific advertising) the 7-day EIT data only maps to the correct channels for one region of New Zealand.
My question is: is it currently possible to map the 7-day EIT data for the Auckland region on to the channels broadcast in other regions?
Thanks in advance,
Mark

If running 4.1.xxx you can use the "Reuse EPG from" option, available by editing a channel in Channel / EPG - you may need to switch to the Expert view level.

Thanks for the suggestion. I upgraded to 4.1-2437 to try out the "Reuse RPG from" option, but unfortunately it only lets me reuse the EPG from other named channels.
I have to confess that I don't really understand how the EIT EPG is broadcast in New Zealand. I've found some more information here:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/epgcollector/files/v2.0.16/
which lists the channels needed for different parts of NZ in an Appendix at the end of the text.
Other backend software such as NextPVR can apparently link the EIT data correctly for all regions of NZ, so I might ask on their forums to see if they can give me any suggestions for making this possible in TVHeadend.

Just map the channel & hide it from the user using tags/number range

I've investigated this a bit more, and discovered this document:
http://www.freeviewnz.tv/media/1055/freeview_dtt_transmission_rules_2_1.pdf
Section 5.12 describes the New Zealand EIT schedule. I've quoted a bit of it below, and it looks as though TVHeadend would have to be able to parse both the EITSchedule Actual and Other tables in order to fully populate the EPG for viewers on the non-Auckland multiplexers in New Zealand. Is this currently possible, or is it something worth putting in a feature request for? I'm guessing it would be less work to implement than feature request #3783, which asks for an MHEG-5 EPG implementation
"To limit the EITschedule bandwidth broadcast on each multiplexer, EITschedule_actual
and EITschedule_other tables are activated on Transport_streams;-
0x19 TVNZ Auckland multiplexer,
0x1d TVWorks multiplexer
0x21 Kordia multiplexer.
The TVNZ regional multiplexers transport_stream_ids 0x1a, 0x1b and 0x1c are deemed
identical to transport_stream_id 0x19 since they are made up from exactly the same
service_ids, event_ids and associated CID data, differing in advertorial content only.
EITschedule_actual data is not activated on these multiplexers.
For a PVR device to fully populate its event information database with every Freeview
services event_ids, irrespective of its‟ current active multiplexer it must parse both the
EITschedule actual and other tables. If the database includes duplicate service_ids
irrespective of their transport_stream_ids it shall discard the service_id with the lesser
signal quality."

You're more than welcome to open a feature request
but is what happens when providers don't follow a standard & do their own variation!
