IPTV-Channel freezes
Added by Hartmut Birsner about 8 years ago
I succeeded in adding some iptv-channls to tvh 4.1-2286, for example: http://iptvfree1.com:6969/live/8/www.iptvrestream.net/944.ts (adding as mux). But the stream freezes after a short while. Is it possible to prevent this? Do I need to change configuration settings? If yes, how?

Hi,
I have the exact same issue, and it seems people are having the same issue on other forums.
my dvbs channels all work fine in tvheadend and forwarded to Kodi
but - iptv channels i add always freeze after about 30seconds to 2 mins... it just stops getting data and there is nothng i can see in the log
If i watch the m3u in vlc it is fine.. although, if i generate the m3u from tvheadend it has the same problem..
some others with the issue:

Hi,
Remember you are using HTTP as transport protocol. Your behaviour is common when you don't have sufficient bandwith, or when you have several lost packets and retransmissions, or when the server is busy, or when a congestion appears in the network.
I suggest to change to another transport protocol, like RTSP/UDP (unreliable) or HLS (reliable).

Thanks for the reply.
the iptv server had mpegts as output
i had it changed to hls
works fine playing the iptv m3u file in vlc
but tvheadend cannot play or forward or scan the channels - although it creates the muxes
when i play a channel it jsut shows a channel icon..
is this what you meant?

my url looks like this
http://xxxxxxv:8000/get.php?username=xxxxxx&password=xxxxx&type=m3u&output=mpegts
i can also put hls on the end instead of mpegts, but then tvheadend won't play
the mux looks like this -
http://xxxxx:8000/live/xxxxx/xxxx/231.ts
i wonder if the expert settings in mux edit menu would do anything

I only need to have tvheadend service enabled, then any streams through any add on I open freeze.
Disable tvheadend service, and all are fine again.

that's a different issue to me.
just the stream freezes for me.

I think tvheadend still doesn't manage the iptv connections well. You can try this additional tool, it works quite nice with tvh: https://github.com/Jalle19/node-ffmpeg-mpegts-proxy

Not sure how to use this.
Asnail boy1..... if you stream from any other add Ons (for example exodus), are your streams stable?
