DVB-T2 on August 210
Added by Konstantin Agouros about 8 years ago
Hi,
there was a post claiming that this is working? I tried it on a plain laptop as well as on a pi. I live in Munich and this has channel 26. I found one tool on Windows that together
with the August 210 would recognise the 6 HD channels available here so I have reception.
Channel 26 translates to 514Mhz. But creating a network/mux with this and then pressing force scan always fails.
Anybody has any hints on what to do here?
Regards,
Konstantin

Hi Konstantin,
If you have an 'original' August 210 (identical to Geniatech T220) with VID:PID of 1F4D:D220 then the fix for T2 was committed to 'media_tree' repo by CrazyCat in July 2014.
You need updates to modules dw2102 and cx2820r, I believe.

Hi Gavin,
can You tell me where to find them and how to verify that they are not already included (as 2014 is quite a while ago).

Konstantin

Ok I did some extra testing.
I have an old netbook with Linux Mint on it. TVHeadend 4.0.9. Result I do get DVB-T2 reception. However
my main dvr box is a raspberry pi2 with 4.1.9 on it. I copied the Mux and Network configuration exactly over scan result stays
'FAIL' any more hints what might be wrong? The Firmware files for the stick are the same.

Konstantin

Similar problem here. I have an August t210 v2 aka mygiga t230 running under LE 7.0.2 on a pi with tvh version 4.1.2369. The device is detected but the scan always fails.

Good to know one is not alone. My guess is the TVH version

I have two August T210v2s, one connected to a standard x64 system using 4.1-2383~gdf9bd3e/4.8.10, and the other connected to a armel kirkwood (armv5tel) Zyxel NSA310S using 4.1-2381~gcb10625/4.8.8.
I update often to the latest soon after the commits are made. These are the builds I've used
tvheadend_4.1-2195~g65dfd15 tvheadend_4.1-2196~gedcd83b tvheadend_4.1-2202~gb358577 tvheadend_4.1-2216~gfd7806a tvheadend_4.1-2221~ge02a5db tvheadend_4.1-2322~g879d532 tvheadend_4.1-2330~g3a113b6 tvheadend_4.1-2369~g0794296 tvheadend_4.1-2372~gfca44ba tvheadend_4.1-2378~gca4ac74 tvheadend_4.1-2381~gcb10625 tvheadend_4.1-2383~gdf9bd3e
All of these had no issues tuning using the T210v2.
Have either of you tried dvbv5-scan, or even w_scan?

Hi Bobby,
the problem might be in the older kernel version on Raspian. However the intel box where it worked also is on 4.4 only marginally different then the pi.
I tried w_scan on another box and there I didn't get results. However I have had success recording on MINT.

Hi,
something I just found looking at the pi:
dmesg gives me an awful lot of:
dvb-usb: bulk message failed: -110 (1/0)
where the number in the () is either 1/0 or 5/0

Konstantin

small update: Raspian Kernel is now on 4.4.38 the messages disappeared, but a force scan on the dvb-t2 network still ends in 'FAIL'
RE: DVB-T2 on August 210 - Added by Bobby Lockwood almost 8 years ago
I've upgraded to Libreelec 7.9.10 on my pi but I'm also still getting Fail on every scan with my August T210 v2. I'll have another try after Christmas.

Hi Mark, interesting to hear you have it installed on your NAS. I have a similar NAS, a Zyxel nsa325 and it would make more sense for to install it on that rather than the pi. Would you mind giving me some advice on installing tvh and the T210 stick on the Zyxel please.

You need to install Debian on it, It's easy if you have a usb-to-uart/serial converter. You may have to build your own kernel though with the media drivers like I did..
Info on the following links..
http://forum.doozan.com/read.php?2,12096
https://forum.nas-central.org/viewtopic.php?f=249&t=5145 - This should work for the 325 too but YMMV - Do not use the packages provided use the kernel from the doozan link and install debian over serial with the initrd from here. the NAS central link should give you a rough idea on how to get debian on the thing.
I personally didn't write anything to the nand apart from changing the uboot settings, so that it loaded the kernel image from the drive instead.
