Added by Morbid Angel about 8 years ago

is there a reason why 4.2 isnt released already?
I mean there is an info 1 year old, that the development is already done...

It hasn't been released because it is still in development. Perhaps once more of the open tickets relating to features coming in 4.2 are resolved, then the release process will begin.

RE: 4.2 release - Added by Philipp Keck about 8 years ago

The last remaining ticket seems to be this one:
http://tvheadend.org/issues/3554
And the last activity was 6 months ago.

RE: 4.2 release - Added by Ivaylo Ivanov about 8 years ago

This ticket is created 9 months ago and there is no progress on it. If nobody can/will fix it does it mean that tvheadend 4.2 will be never released? If the developers don't have enough time to fix it they should move the ticket to version 4.4 and release version 4.2.

Any news on this release?

Guys,

How do we get this last ticket closed/moved so 4.2 can be released?
I am really hanging out for the XMLTV Import/Export because over-the-air TV Guides in Australia are crap for Series/Episode information and the TV networks add their own advertising content into the descriptions. I have created an application to sort this out but the XMLTV import / export feature would complete the picture for me.

Regards,

Trevor

What do you mean XMLTV import/export? How are the XMLTV options in 4.1 different than 4.0?

RE: 4.2 release - Added by Trevor Miller over 7 years ago

Robert,

If you have a look at the change log for 4.2 on the roadmap page https://tvheadend.org/projects/tvheadend/roadmap it has the following feature #2527 XMLTV Export Support, previous version have import using XMLTV but do not have the ability to export the program guide from tvheadend.

I was looking to use the existing DVB-T EIT program guide for initial details export these details out, using my own program update the program data (remove advertising from program descriptions and update TV Series & Episode numbers) using internet sources and then load these details back in using the existing XMLTV Guide Import.

Trevor

Look at the examples at the bottom of the feature request ([[https://tvheadend.org/issues/2527]] and try them. Not sure exactly which revision of 4.1 they were added (maybe even in 4.0???) but they do work.

RE: 4.2 release - Added by Robert Cameron over 7 years ago

I knew that TVH had XMLTV import since 4.0, but since I never use the link to the XMLTV EPG from TVH I didn't realize it was a new feature.

For those wanting DVB/EIT/OTA guide info from TVH output into XMLTV, I can see the utility of that. Since I'm in the US (and using cable) I often forget that most of the rest of the world has free access to guide data rather than needing to purchase a subscription and use software that outputs XMLTV to even get guide data.

However, if you are impatient and need features that are present in the development builds, there is nothing stopping you from building it yourself. (Most distros even have packages of 4.1 ...)

Thanks guys,

I will have a look at the version I'm running on my Ubuntu box tonight and give it a try. Otherwise I may have to revert to a Dev Build of it.

Cheers,

Trevor
