Errors in log

Added by john doe about 8 years ago

Hi there,

I just reinstalled TVheadend.
At first not all channels where detected but I managed to set it properly.
So far, it seems all is ok (but installed since about 3 hours only).
I tested it recording 4 channels without any glich.
My clients use kodi.
My tvh distro is Devuan (Debian without systemd).
The reason why I'm posting here is that I have about 1 error message every 2 seconds, even when no streaming and no recording are actives.
The tuners are 4 (2 doubles) evolveo Venus (af9033 driver).
And here are the error messages (every message is exactly the same) :

Oct 14 11:10:17 devuan kernel: [90350.110064] i2c i2c-0: af9033: i2c rd failed=-5 reg=800047 len=1
Oct 14 11:10:19 devuan kernel: [90352.110460] i2c i2c-0: af9033: i2c rd failed=-5 reg=800047 len=1
Oct 14 11:10:21 devuan kernel: [90354.110727] i2c i2c-0: af9033: i2c rd failed=-5 reg=800047 len=1

What does it means ?
Is there a real problem ?
What can I do to avoid log fooding ?

This is a problem of module. (driver)
It is not connected directly with software with use device.
Probably is from reverse engineering used to write driver.

Well, just to avoid flooding the logs, now I discard this messages.
Anyway, I would like to understand the cause of these messages.

I've seen something similar with an astrometa stick, from what I gather it's basically just a read error - as long as it doesn't prevent playback/recording I'd just ignore it.
