DVR Log Retention Time (days): WTF?
Added by Anonymous about 8 years ago
Aloha everyone,
First: I think the option above is completly unreasonable. Why should I remove (automatically) files from the database without ANY chance to put them back in?
How can I handle this setting correctly? I can't find any information how i can completly disable this "feature" so tried to set it to 20.000 hich is nearly half a lifetime. But that fucked up the DB, then I tried tried to be more softly to that setting and entered 360 days. Which are completly ignored and stuff is being removed from the Datebase after 30 days, which i did not enter. So, is there anyone who can help me on this? I am a little bit angry because I know have to move the files to another directory and can whatch them like a stupid via the File commander on my notebook then on my big screen with all that kodi-comfort and stuff ...
Please gimme a hint.

The "DVR Log Retention Time" does not remove any files, only the information related to that recording. The default value (using tvheadend 4.1.xxxx) is "On file removal". which basically means if you remove the file Tvheadend will remove the information it keeps about the recording.
If you've set "DVR file retention period" (which is how long tvheadend should keep a recording) to 30 days this is why the information is being removed.
You need to set "DVR Log Retention Time" to "forever", so that even if the file is removed/deleted information about that recording is kept.

Hi there,
thank you for your answer. I can't enter "forever" in that field, it's just accepting numbers. I am using 4.0.9 because it's the last stable version as far as I know.
