DVB-S2 network tuner recommadations

Added by Jon M about 8 years ago

Hello all,

I'm looking to buy a DVB-S2 network tuner to add to TVHE and I'm looking for user recommendations!

I'd like it to have 2 tuners and to be able to send all (inc. encrypted) channels over IPTV to my server in another room, be small-ish and not crazy expensive.
I'll be using it in the UK.

Anyone have one they particularly like? Any one had one they hated and I should stay clear of? If you've tried a few, which one did you like the most?

Cheers!
Jon

Get a SAT>IP Server, available with 1,2,4 tuners, like this one: https://www.amazon.de/Telestar-Satelliten-IP-Netzwerk-Transmitter-Eing%C3%A4nge/dp/B016XL584C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1474020384&sr=8-1&keywords=sat-ip

(not tested here, several other devices available) and you'll be set for future updates. Works well for me with an 8-tuner LNB (not available anymore: Inverto IDLI-8CHE20-OOPOE-OSP)

Definitely get a SAT>IP server - 4 tuners.

Look for a
Inverto IDL-400s
Grundig GSS.BOX
Telestar Digibit R1

They're all basically the same hardware, I have the Digibit R1 and it's best piece of DVB hardware I've owned after using a number of TBS DVB-S2 cards over the years.

You should be able to get hold of one for around £100. I bought mine on Amazon.de delivered to the UK as it was cheaper that way. Just checked - Telestar Digibit R1 can be had for EUR 117.99.

Run TVH on a separate system and you'll have a nice setup.

My SAT>IP server just sits in a cupboard where my satellite cables come in and runs 24/7 without skipping a beat. No driver issues, no tuning issues, no reliability issues. It saved me a lot of hassle after messing with TBS drivers for years.
