Missing Recording

In addition to the file size issue, when my recording finished it is not listed as a finished recording. I can see the file on the server, so why doesn't TVH show it as a finished recording?

In addition, I checked my client and there are no recordings listed there either. Not sure why these are not showing up. Obviously I have the dir where the recordings are saved correct, otherwise I would not be able to see them from the command prompt.

What version are you running?

TVH (certainly the 4.1 branch) uses log files to maintain the state of the DVR so when a recording starts, a log file is created with a unique ID which tells TVH all about the recording (i.e. where it is, the start and end date, synopsis info etc.) so if that file is not created (or has been deleted by TVH) then the server has no knowledge of the recording even though it exists on disk.

I did notice when looking at file permissions that the recordings were owned by hts and group users. Isn't it supposed to be hts for both?

My logs are either owned by hts:hts or hts:video and that doesn't affect the operation of my box (but I'm running the 4.1 branch as I recommend most users should) - I think the hts user should be part of the 'video' group.

If you go into your logs folder and do something like;

cat * | egrep "Some String From Your Video Title" 

eg

cat * | egrep "The Late Show" 

Do you get any results? If you do get results, do any of them match the exact file(s) that aren't showing in the UI?

Check your user permissions in the TVH webui - if your files are recorded by a different user than you are logged in as then you won't be able to see them.

Check the recordings aren't showing in the 'Failed' tab

I don'tee a log file anywhere. TVH does not show anything under failed or any other recording tab. It's like I never recorded it.

I did notice my path was pretty long, /media/1cb62b0b-f2cf-48ab-a4c3-e774e99f9619/Media. Would that make any difference?
