Scanner unable to find Freesat Bouquets?

Added by John Bergqvist about 8 years ago

When Scanning for DVB-S muxes (with Network Discovery on), I can find all the channels OK, as well as the BSkyB Bouquets, but not the Freesat ones. Is there a particular multiplex that i'm missing or that Network Discovery isn't picking up?

You should have the home transponders 11778 V 27500, 11425 H 27500, 11425 is the one you want. Just play it in vlc for 60 seconds and it should pull the bouquets in.

RE: Scanner unable to find Freesat Bouquets? - Added by John Bergqvist about 8 years ago

Well they're both in my muxes, and i've streamed both now and its playing back fine on VLC, but they're not adding any new bouquets. I have 230 bouquets in total (including the pre-installed fastscan ones, the rest being BSkyB bouquets it picked up during scanning).

RE: Scanner unable to find Freesat Bouquets? - Added by John Bergqvist about 8 years ago

I have had the 'Over the air EPG' option UNticked for my Capture card, however surely if it was that causing the problem, I wouldn't have recieved the BSkyB Bouquets then?

The weird thing is it was picking the Freesat Bouquets up fine last night. All i've done since is deleted the Network (plus Muxes etc.) and re-created them all today.

I'm getting the same. I used TSReader and it appears that the Freesat Home transponder doesn't seem to have any Bouquet Allocation Tables.

Did you get any where with getting yours back?

I know it is a while since this was posted but in case anyone searches for this.
Having this issue on a new 4.2 system, I persevered and found them on the BBC Olympics channel on Mux 11425H.

RE: Scanner unable to find Freesat Bouquets? - Added by Simon Russell about 7 years ago

Sorry to resurrect again, but is this still the case (this is the most recent post I could find)? After clearing out and starting again, I'm playing the 11425H mux in VLC, but no bouquets are displaying. However, I don't have a BBC Olympics service either (used to have, I think). All the usual BSkyBs are listed. I have two "Freesat info" Services on 11425H and 11428H. Playing either doesn't seem to do anything.

A little new to this and trying to get the Freesat bouquets to list...

Make sure you've set the position for the network AND the freesat EPG grabber is enabled & try again.

RE: Scanner unable to find Freesat Bouquets? - Added by Simon Russell about 7 years ago

Thank you for this - I think it came down to the EPG settings, that I originally knew nothing about as I was in Basic view.

I've now got generic bouquets, but no regional ones. I suspect it's related to this: https://tvheadend.org/issues/4543

Channels came through without numbers, but that's OK for now.

Thanks for your time. Ultimately I want to configure it to behave like a £20 freesat box and sort of just work. Getting there...

RE: Scanner unable to find Freesat Bouquets? - Added by Simon Russell about 7 years ago

After a docker update today, a rescan and playing the 11425H and 11428H muxes, all bouquets appeared. All channels appear to be present with correct numbers (except for the numbering on Radio London). Several duplicates of ITV and Channel 4 just needed turning off, together with a couple of test/odd channels. Thanks for the help on this forum.

Looks like this information has again changed, if i wish to setup freesat for the South East i assume the following is the correct bouquet ?
https://www.satellite-calculations.com/DVB/28.2E/freesat.php?272/25

Can someone odentofy the correct frequency to get EPG, is it the freesat info channel on 999, freq 11426 H ??

RE: Scanner unable to find Freesat Bouquets? - Added by Fet Fer over 5 years ago

Hi Paul

To get the freesat Bouquets you have to have the Over-the-air: UK: Freesat EPG Grabber module enabled. If you want to use a different EPG for yuour main channels (e.g. XML) then set the Priority of UK: Freesat one down to 1 and set your other grabber higher, I have mine set at 5.

I think you then need to play a service such as BBC One (or maybe the Freesat Test, I forget), that triggers the over the air epg. If you monitor the log you should see the dvb-freesat://dvbs ... Bouuquets being found.
If you only get the default ones e.g. England HD: Default, then enable one of those, when that is scanned you should then see the local ones appearing e.g. England HD: S East/London
You may see more than one for a region, try each in turn till you see services mapped to channels.

Have fun.

Mark,
For a number of weeks, since being upgraded
I have been unable to get tvheadend to decode any OTA freesat bouquets.
Both stable or unstable builds, both armhf and arm64.
Has the code been "changed"?
Or has the OTA format changed in a manner that the code cannot cope with?
Configs tried 16.04, 18.04 and raspian -- pi2b, pi3b, pi3b+ -- all with sat>ips
Have tried all the usual things to wipe config/rebuild from scratch/mux schedule etc

RE: Scanner unable to find Freesat Bouquets? - Added by Fet Fer over 5 years ago

Hi Paul

I am just a user so do not know if any code has been changed.

I am currently on build 4.2.8-15~gdae846765 (2019-03-01T16:34:27+0000), Ubuntu 18.04.2 LTS on an intel box. All appears to be well, for example the new BBC Scotland channels have appeared in my listings.
My system was built about 1 year ago and kept up to date via apt.tvheadend.org

I have got a Pi 3 somewhere, if I get the opportunity I will dust it off and see if I can get it going.

RE: Scanner unable to find Freesat Bouquets? - Added by Fet Fer over 5 years ago

Hi Paul

It looks like there is an issue with both freesat and Sky Bouquets in the latest build (HTS Tvheadend 4.2.8-17~gd64d8c808), I tried my Pi with Ubuntu Server 18, that showed no Bouquets, I created an Ubuntu Server 18 VM and again that does not see any Bouquets being added automatically.

I loaded Libreelec 8.2.5 on the Pi as that has an older TVHeadend build (HTS Tvheadend 4.2.6-7 ~ LibreELEC Tvh-addon v8.2.113) and that works fine. e.g. this from log when first scanning Muxes it picks, up both Sky and Freesat Bouquets;

RE: Scanner unable to find Freesat Bouquets? - Added by BH Dan over 5 years ago

I am also having the same issue as Mark above, in that I can not get any of the UK Freesat Bouquets.
Installation details:
TVheadend version: 4.2.8-17~gd64d8c808
Installed via apt.tvheadend.org/stable on clean install of Debian 9.6.0
Operating System: Debian GNU/Linux 9 (stretch)
Kernel: Linux 4.9.0-8-amd64
Architecture: x86-64

I am able to directly tune into services (BBC One etc) with VLC, via the play button on the services page.
I do not see anything in the channel column next to the service name column.

The only EPG Grabber modules enabled are:
OTA: UK: Freesat (priority 5)
OTA: OpenTV: Sky UK (priority 1)

If there is any other information that is needed please let me know.
I hope this is of some help, even if it just confirms the problems Mark is seeing above.

Actually I think it's this one.... https://github.com/tvheadend/tvheadend/commit/726e6e65441a9802b6678b05e5f78d82c8cad5f5

I reverted the commit and rebuilt and all my freesat bouquets were instantly found. I've added this info to the open issue.

RE: Scanner unable to find Freesat Bouquets? - Added by Fet Fer over 5 years ago

Hi Oli

That is great that you have spotted which change has precipitated this incident.

Can you point me to where the issue is tracked so I can keep an eye on the progress.

Many thanks

Mark

RE: Scanner unable to find Freesat Bouquets? - Added by Oli Jeal over 5 years ago

Sure thing Mark. It's at https://tvheadend.org/issues/5572
I've not had a response yet so I'm not sure when/if it will be picked up.

RE: Scanner unable to find Freesat Bouquets? - Added by Oli Jeal over 5 years ago

Also if you're looking for a quick fix, my package install of tvheadend is the 4.2 branch. To get everything working in the short term I simply downgraded from 4.2.8 to 4.2.6 by switching to the BinTray packages.

sudo apt-key adv --keyserver hkp://keyserver.ubuntu.com:80 --recv-keys 379CE192D401AB61

sudo apt-add-repository "https://dl.bintray.com/tvheadend/deb bionic stable-4.2"

sudo apt update

sudo apt install tvheadend=4.2.6-84~g81f56cc89~bionic

RE: Scanner unable to find Freesat Bouquets? - Added by Fet Fer over 5 years ago

Hi Oli

I have followed the issue and seen it has been fixed. I have just updated my test system BSKYB bouquets appeared after the restart and Freesat bouquets after subscribing to service "DVB-S Network/11425H/Freesat Test"

Many thanks for your help getting the issue raised.

Im unable to subscribe to this Dec 2020. Cant find the bouquets for Freesat now. Im in France but have good signal. Anyone got an idea how to get the Freesat bouquets now ? Ive tried playing 14225 ( 11425 edit) as suggested but get the following message

2020-12-22 13:13:26.522 subscription: 017C: "HTTP" subscribing to service "DVB-S Network/11425H/BBC NDRA", weight: 100, adapter: "Montage Technology M88RS6000 #1 : DVB-S #0", network: "DVB-S Network", mux: "11425H", provider: "Arqiva", profile="pass", hostname="192.168.1.11", username="****", client="VLC/3.0.11.1 LibVLC/3.0.11.1"

Im using Debian Buster. I have downloaded and compiled the TBS driver code which is for my other card which isnt installed at this moment. Ive swapped back to the dvbsky s952 because ive had so many problems with the tbs cards.

RE: Scanner unable to find Freesat Bouquets? - Added by Dave Pickles almost 4 years ago

Bouquets are broadcast on the EPG mux, 11425H (my tuner says 11428H).

RE: Scanner unable to find Freesat Bouquets? - Added by R Maxwell almost 4 years ago

Sorry that was a typo Log shows 11425.

I’m having so many problems, I’m going back to Ubuntu 18 , non unicable and my s952 to try and get even a basic working setup, I have never struggled so hard with something that worked before and yet eludes me now, very deflated. Thanks to all who have helped this far.

RE: Scanner unable to find Freesat Bouquets? - Added by R Maxwell almost 4 years ago

Ok, this is weird.

I went back to Ubuntu 18, got the S952 installed ( easy ). Installed TVheadend 4.2.8 using Stable (easy )
and it all just works, ( I havent tried using unicable ) including the signal meters. Bouquet for Freesat is there, first time in 10 days.

( bar the bouquet didnt seem to map the services, but when i rebooted they were there immediately, so i am thinking there is a bug )_

So far, I had tried Debian 9, Debian 10, Ubuntu 20. I think this is the first time Ive been able to go back to Stable 4.2.8

So that leaves me to investigate

Update : unicable worked for a moment and then any channel request said no input. I know unicable can work as I have now tested it in windows.
1) clone the system, add the TBS Drivers and see if it still works or they are upsetting the system
2) create a new version of Buster, compiled 4.2.8 from scratch and see if it works and
