TVheadend as server on Wetek play with tuner dvb-s2 - How many bandwidth of upload?
Added by Nexius Nexius about 8 years ago
Hi,
I have running for a long time TVheadend as server within my LAN network.
However, I'm wondering how many bandwith of upload do I need in order to stream one hd channel to outside my home?

It depends on the HD channel! Different providers use different bitrates, and most of the time they're variable.
For example, here in the UK. HD channels from terrestrial have an average bitrate of around 4Mbps, but they drop as low as ~1Mbps and can go as high as ~15Mbps. That would mean you'd need an upload speed of 15Mbps to avoid any dropouts.
My upload speed is 20Mbps and I usually have no problems with this!

Thanks for your answer
That's why I have freezes all the time, my upload it's only +/- 6mb...
I though it may have something to do with capable of transcoding, but my box it's too weak to handle it. I was hoping that we could do some teaks on our side of tvheadend server.
