Difference between errors and data errors

Does anybody know the difference between an "error" and a "data error" when it comes to streaming/recording?

Do both cause corruption of the transport stream (so glitching in the stream/recording) and what is the cause (I'm guessing poor signal)?

I believe one is errors from the tuner (Transport error) and the other is streaming errors/connection errors.
