Is there any way to get timeshift to work on android with vlc or mx player

I've activated timeshift in tvheadend settings but it doesn't work in vlc or mx player on my android tablet. :-(

IIRC timeshift only works with the HTSP protocol so if you're using a player that doesn't support HTSP by definition timeshift wont work.
