TVheadend with different Tunners from TBS company

Added by Info Barra over 8 years ago

Hi guys

Quick question i have tvheadend running with 1 Tunner TBS8920 DVBS2 ok with no problems, so i went online and bought several other PCI cards for a IPTV project in our company.

Our motherboard has alot of PCIe slots available so i bought for testing some 2nd hand units

TBS6981, TBS6920 and TBS6904, so i teste every single unit separate and i got signal.

But when i connect them all same time it detects all drivers i installed separate for each tunner card.

But when i try to scan channels on TVheadend for different frequency on different sat it allways fails scan.

Does anyone else have more then 1 TBS tunner running on same machine with tvheadend ok?

Also we have a OLT fiberhome here, is it possible to configure TVheadend to connect to the OLT for multicast?

or is it a kind of impossible situation?

i will try to output logs later on.

Hi

I have a TBS 6984 (DVB-S/2) and a 6284 (DVB-T/2) running in the same machine, both PCI-E devices running under Ubuntu 16 - no problems at all.

Jonathan.

A couple articles on TBS cards that I found useful, from an American blog:

Do you run one or more TBS PCIe cards under Linux? Check your IRQs…

A bash script to rebuild the TBS tuner drivers after Linux kernel updates

Also, if you find that TBS cards change change adapter numbers from reboot to reboot, it may be possible to force one or more of the cards to use certain adapter numbers. For example you could create a file /etc/modprobe.d/dvb.conf with a line such as:
options tbs_pcie-dvb adapter_nr=4,5,6,7
to force a TBS 6905 (quad tuner) card to always use adapters 4,5,6, and 7 - I don't know why this works or what the rules are for specifying other types of TBS tuners but I did want to let you know that this is at least possible.

I don't know if any of these will help with your TBS tuner issues, but they are still good things to know.
