EPG Running State DVB-S (Sky UK)

Added by Jonathan Thomson over 8 years ago

My setup:

TVHeadend 4.1.2088 nightly
1xTBS Quad DVB-S2 tuner
1xTBS Quad DVB-T2 tuner (currently unconfigured)

I've tried on numerous times to get EITp/f to work on my setup with varying degrees of failure.

I have the option checked on my default recording profile and no pre/post record buffer configured
I have tried adding pre/post record buffer to the default recording profile
I have tried setting the individual channels to "Enabled" from "Not set" in the EPG Running State column
I have tried individual recordings and series links

None of the above results in a complete recording, they invariably;
Start too early and finish too early
Start too early and finish too late (the best of a bad bunch)
Start too late and finish too early
Fail to record at all

Does anybody have this working at all in the UK, if so, which channels and how have you configured your recording profile?

I only have the OpenTV scraper enabled, is the OTA EIT one needed as well to use this functionality? I've turned it on now to try it out.

I'm soooo close to having the perfect replacement to Sky but these niggles are a fly in the proverbial ointment.

I manually set eitp/f only on channels that I know it actually works on, so far it only appears to be the BBC Channels, ITV, C4 and C5. None of the other broadcasters seem to get it right, and even then the ones that do screw up from time to time.

It's best not to use it on every channel..

Thanks Mark

So how does your config look then?

I have a mix of dvb-s/dvb-t channels, I use EPG from freeview/freesat/eit and opentv. the above mentioned channels are the only ones I have it (eitp/f) enabled on, like I said the others can't seem to get it right.

No sorry what I mean is;

In the channel list - have you got the "Use EPG running state" to "Enabled", "Disabled" or "Not set" for the channels that you know work
In your recording profile, I presume you have "Use EPG running state" enabled?
Do you have a pre/post recording buffer set on your recording profile?

Sorry, It went completely over my head (lack of sleep).

I have it "enabled" for the channels I want, "not set" for the rest, the DVR profile, I've left it disabled, buffer is 5 mins both pre- post- recording..

AIUI, if you leave it as "not set" Tvheadend will use the value set in the profile, setting enable/disable per channel will override it (the dvr profile).

Haha no worries at all.

I've set my server up to mirror your config now and will see how I get on. I've been through several rebuilds recently (due to tinkering and breaking stuff) but I did have this working at some point and was amazed how good it was (e.g. I would have a perfect recording which started dead on the programme start and finished right after the credits) but on my recent rebuild I could just not get it to work.

Fingers crossed this works now.

Cheers for your help.
