IPTV from set top box

Hi all, new user here. Thought I'd give this awesome tool a try after much lurking around the forums. I'll tell you a bit about the setup before I ask the questions.

4 TVs in different rooms, 1 with Aerial feeding an EE TV box (freeview with enhanced UI via broadband provider in UK) It's a netgem box.
Plex media server feeding my stored content to chromecast on all 4 TVs.

I thought it'd be cool to get live TV into plex via the TVH plugin so that can go to all TVs without installing cables everywhere and an amplified splitter for the aerial input. There are a few specific channels we want to have in different rooms that I've not found any other way of streaming via chromecast.

So, I have TVH setup on a laptop atm, if I can do what I want it'll go onto a Raspberry Pi 2.

The EE TV box outputs an m3u file over wifi to stream to their phone/tablet apps. It contains the content below at http://EE TV box IP/Live/Channels/getPlaylist and I've been able to setup a mux for individual channels but I want to if possible point a single mux at the playlist address, for 2 reasons, first - the time taken to input and possibly edit individual channels in future & second, I've had no success adding a mux for the +1 channels (which have +1 in the URL as you can see below)

I've seen various tools/scripts to 'convert' the m3u to TVH friendly but ideally I'd like to just setup a single mux from the playlist. I've tried file, pipe with ffmpeg to no avail, I've also tried reading it with ffmpeg on it's own from the command line and it fails. I've seen various posts on the forum saying it can do it, but nothing specifically that works for me. So that's question 1 - any ideas?

Question 2 is simpler - what do you guys use for epg data and do you have links to install/setup guides for your chosen methods.

Question 3 relates to the same thing. In the configuration pages I can't set an epg source for a channel - presumably because I haven't set anything up yet like XMLTV etc. TVH does pull basic now playing data from the set top box but when I set something up properly for full EPG will that also automatically populate channel icons - in the interests of it being 'wife friendly'

I hope I'm not being to much of a noob and thanks for any help offered!

I'm not sure what version of Tvheadend you're using (it sounds like 4.0.x) you may want to try 4.1 (current development code) and use IPTV automatic network to add that m3u file.

Thanks Andy. I actually changed from 4.0 to 4.1 about an hour after posting. it does now add the m3u without shouting at me but only pulls out 1 service, the first channel in the list. Any thoughts anyone?

Are you adding it using an IPTV network or an "IPTV Automatic network"?
