What do all you guys do for picons
Added by Rob Mccombe almost 9 years ago
Hi all
Just wanted to know what all you lot do for picons.
At the moment I'm adding urls to each channel and it's starting to get a bit boring now lol.
I just want to know if there is a easier way for me to add picons to tvheadend for 28.2e
I see a option for picon path but how does that work and where do I download a full set of picons from.
Cheers all

What setting would I change in tvheadend to get that to work.
No sure if I understand that lol.
I don't quite get the build_input and build_output part of it.
Could it not just be easier to download some icons and point tvheadend in that direction.
Cheers mark

There already is pre-generated ones available on that site.
You'd just need to extract them somewhere on your systen & point tvheadend to that directory.

hi mark,
im really struggling with this one.
i have downloaded the picons from the site you suggested and extracted them to the server in the /home/hts/picons location.

This is driving me insane lol.
I was up till 1 in the morning trying to figure out how to do this.
I have tried sng and srg Picons from the site Mark suggested I have them in directory /home/hts/picons I put in tvheadend picon file path file:///home/hts/picons
Each and every time I have tried a different set of picons I have reset all icons and rebooted the server to be on the safe side but still no joy
In channels it does show picon://etc but when I goto epg still no channel logos are displayed.
What on earth am I doing wrong lol.
Cheers

OK Here's how I did it.
Downloaded: srp-full.800x450-760x410.light.on.transparent_2016-01-21--15-25-33.symlink.tar.xz
Extracted to: /home/hts/.hts/picons. # Make sure that the png files (files are named 1_0_1_5700_5040_233A_EEEE0000_0_0_0.png) are all in this directory
Set the path in tvheadend as /home/hts/.hts/picons.
Set up image cache and re-fetched the images.
Now my EPG list looks like this..
And Kodi looks like this:
HTH.

I tried that way last night because I half wondered if it Could be something to do with permissions (although I did chmod 777 on the original directory to see if this was the problem).
The only thing I can notice from mine to yours is it looks like your using different tvheadend version. I am on 4.0.8
Cheers

I untarred & downloaded as the hts user (sudo -u hts /bin/bash)

I'm using unstable..

I've had hell and all trouble with icons... it's hit-and-miss if something works for you, in my experience.
I gave the above a try and it didn't work, despite me being geographically very close to Mr C, albeit on a different transmitter ... my BBC THREE looks for picon://1_0_1_10C0_1050_233A_EEEE0000_0_0_0.png, for example, instead of the 1_0_1_10C0_1045... in the screen grab above. I've even tried building from a live query to tvheadend to get the enabled channels, and I still get the wrong/a different reference to the icon created. Generating them only seems to give me 1_0_1_... files versus some of the tvheadend icon spaths that are 1_0_19_ or 1_0_80...
I can only assume it's something to do with how my channels are mapped (HD and SD, -T and -S).

Ugg, that site serves up ads that say "download here" which leads to what might be malware. Nice.

I disabled my adblock because I wanted to try and support the site a little BUT I started seeing those now too, turning adblock back on..
