Finished recordings tab not populated

Im running version "HTS Tvheadend 4.0.8-3~gc870eb9~wheezy" on a Raspberry Pi kernel 3.18.11.

My recordings are succesfully saved to disk, in either .ts or .mkv as desired. I scp them over to my laptop and they play perfectly well.

However, the "Finished Recordings" tab in the web browser is never populated. Any ideas what I have done wrong ?

During the recording is there a log file entry created in the tvheadend/dvr/log directory which points to the file currently being recorded? Does that log file then disappear after the recoding is complete?

Not sure. I'll do another recording in a moment and take a look.

I have done "tail -f /var/log/syslog" during a recording and I do see messages relating to the recording of the stream, all seems OK.

I'll reply back after I do another recording shortly.

OK, done another recording.

In the directory tvheadend/dvr a folder is generated called log. Inside that folder is a file with what looks like a hash code as a name.

So /home/hts/.hts/tvheadend/dvr/log/2a3456mmfjrut........

The log folder is deleted once the recording stops.

I had a closer look in my DVR profile config and noticed that log retentions was set to over 2 million days !! Not sure how that happened, anyway I have set it to 30 days and tried another recording.

I started a recording, let it run for a few minutes, then aborted it. An entry was placed in the failed recordings tab (this tab was never populated either).

I ran another recording and let it finish naturally, it then appeared in the finished recordings tab.

So, the problem was simply an incorrectly set log retention time.

Glad it's working. I thought it might have been a similar problem to one I am having. When you look at the contents of the log file entries for the recordings what does the "retention" number show? Does it show 0 or the number which you have set as your retention setting?

I have set the log retention to 360 days in the web page config, seemed a sensible number for me. However, the log file shows a value of 0.
