Update 4.1.1163 -> 4.1.1322: All transcoding profiles gone

Added by Marco Jakobs almost 9 years ago

Hi,

today I've updated from 4.1.1163 to 4.1.1322 and I've noticed that all streaming profiles which are using transcoding are gone. I can't even create a new stream profile which uses transcoding, the add profile dialog offers me just TS-pass, Matroska and HTSP.

Did I miss something or is this just a bug and I need to go back to 4.1.1163?

I'm running on Ubuntu trusty.

Thanks,
Marco

Marco,

I believe the issue will be that you've switched to the official repo (i.e. my builds). These are generated automatically from our deb spec files (the standard way of doing things), unfortunately it looks like the builds dreamcat has been producing have been adding in additional features via other means (i.e. manually installing packages, something you cannot do with pbuilder, for good reasons).

I'm going to take a look at fixing this today and hopefully tonights builds will include transcoding (might even be a build during the day).

Watch this space.

Hi Adam,

thank you for your feedback!

I did indeed correct the path in my sources.list - but it was not "dreamcat" before. Indeed it was the "master > unstable > testing > stable" designation, but it was the repo mentioned on the download site for THV some weeks ago.

However, I highly appreciate your work to get that fixed. It'll be great if you can drop a line here once it's done and which build number it'll have.

Thanks,
Marco

Try now, unstable should now include ffmpeg library.

Thanks, Adam! That works perfect now!

And you did some real magic - the CPU load is now less than 1/3 as before during transcode. With 4.1.1163 transcoding a HD stream down to 2Mbit took neearly 300% CPU, now the same is at 70-80%. That's absolutely excellent!
