Maximum Simultaneous viewers per tuner?

Added by I_liek Meat almost 9 years ago

Plan to make a cheap DVB-T tv server. How many different channels can be broadcast simultaneously using a single tuner?

If the answer is only "1", can I put multiple USB tuners onto one machine, and present it as a single "source" with the ability to provide multiple streams to multiple users?

Thanks for your time.

1 multiplex per frequency with x number of services = 1 tuner.

So say if you had 25 services on each multiplex & you have two muxes, you'd need 2 tuners to be able to receive all 50 services at the same time.

If I had 10 services on one multiplex and on one mux, would one tuner be able to serve all 10 services? (Other than issues with CPU/Network)

Mux is short for multiplex, but yes if all those services are on the same multiplex then you'd only need one tuner to receive them all as long as your stick provides the full mux (most do these days).
