Wetek OpenELEC Low SNR DVB-S Australia/NZ Optus D1
Added by Ben Ben almost 9 years ago
Hello,
I'm using a Wetek on Optus D1 with a KU 11300 LNB, and I get a very poor SNR (30%, if I'm lucky), however the signal strength is usually around the 70% mark at the same time. This seems to result in tens of thousands of continuity errors and makes streams unwatchable.
The dish, LNB and Wetek all appear to work fine, as I can watch TV fine in Wetek's internal 'Theatre' application, which uses the same receiver hardware. I've been trying to get this going for over a month, but I can't seem to get past this issue of poor signal. Every scan results in either a 'FAIL' or 'NONE', although services are occasionally picked up and recorded in the Services tab. Usually, I can only manage to find 84 Services with TVHeadend including the encrypted services - it's 300+ in the Theatre.
Anyway, for the services that I do find, the signal is so poor that I just get the odd blip of noise and a flash of green with one or two small blocks rendered correctly (I think, it's hard to tell).
I've been furiously Googling for the past few weeks but nothing juicy has turned up. Only this, but it's for DVB-T, so may or may not be related to my DVB-S problem:

The above loosely references some sort of software change that was made to the Theatre app for the Australia region, but it's not clear what. Perhaps you chaps would know more about that than I do.
What can I do? Is there a way I can get TVHeadend running correctly in OpenELEC on a Wetek Play?
Thanks,
Ben

I saw your post before but completely forgot to reply.
It could be a number of things, dodgy drivers in Openelec, poor cabling or an issue with Tvheadend.
The only thing I can suggest is opening an issue on here and attaching a mux dump but I'm pretty sure the wetek doesn't send the complete mux so that may prove tricky.
If you can provide as much detail as possible even if you think its not related include it.
Also include the system log from the Tvheadend webui when you try and watch a programme.
I don't have a wetek so I can't check this but it should give you signal info freq etc, try copying that exactly into Tvheadend (add it as mux) and report what happens.
