freesat ota epg grabber not running

Hi folks.

I'm running HTS Tvheadend 4.1-1085 talking to an elgato netstream 4sat.

I have 1 epg module enabled: "UK: freesat" at priority 5.

When I first use the right freesat bouquet for my region: "England HD: West/West", tvh seems to populate the epg very quickly from 11428H.

However, the freesat ota grabber never runs again, even when I hit the "Trigger OTA EPG Grabber" button on the web interface.

Stopping tvh, deleting the epg database and restarting tbh, the epg is never populated again until I deselect and then reselect the "England HD: West/West" freesat bouquet.

However, if I now add the OpenTV: Sky UK ota epg grabber module and hit "Trigger OTA EPG Grabber", tvh now subscribes to 11778V and populates most of the freesat channels with epg information.

I'm quite willing to believe that I've completely mis-understood how the ota epg grabbers work in tvh, but just in case this is a bug, I thought I'd mention it :)

Folks,

I'm at a total loss. Hitting the 'Trigger OTA EPG Grabber' button won't cause the freesat ota epg scanner to run, nor will restarting tvh. It also doesn't run from the internal ota cron.

How can I persuade the freesat ota scanner to run, and just grab the epg from 11428H?

I really don't know... I have Freesat OTA enabled, and it just keeps up-to-date. I never have to do anything. I do have other grabbers as well, though...

All I can immediately suggest is to enable the OTA EIT grabber (that gives you now/next, I believe) and the OpenTV Sky grabber (as I think that's a superset of the Freeview stuff).

Otherwise... we'll need to get into tracing and debugging to see what is or isn't happening.

Thanks for replying.

Things mostly work if I enable the opentv sky uk grabber. It's just using the freesat grabber on its own that fails to update after the inital scan.

I have the same problem as this. The Freesat EPG won't automatically repopulate (I get the first week of listings from when it first runs and then nothing after).

The way I get it to download is to have the "Freesat Info" channel mapped as that's on the Freesat home transponder (11425H), and then if I load that channel it "forces" the download of the data. Very annoying though if I forget and miss series links. :(

I'm wondering if the issue could be that last year the satellite broadcasting the Freesat home transponder was replaced, and the home frequency slightly changed from 11428H to 11425H. If TVHeadend possibly has a hardcoded value of 11428 maybe it doesn't pick up the new version in the background automatically?

11428H is still live (I've added it) but I think it's virtual. What version of Tvheadend are you using?

FWIW, I did start to get problems a few versions ago, and added a mux scheduler to 11778V and 11426H. I haven't had any problems since.

Although I'm left wondering just where the EPG data actually does live, given the number of different muxes we now seem to have... I guess it's partly Freesat vs Sky vs everything else on that satellite?

Was this ever resolved or is the only option to run the mux scheduler? Freesat epg is handy for radio epg.
