tuning Cine S2
Added by Dave Sissons almost 9 years ago
Hi,
I am building a new media center and have installed a Digital devices Cine S2. I have installed the firmware and V4l and the tuners show in tvheadend setup screen but it will not tune. I have configured a DVBS network and selected astra 28.2 which gives me the muxes but nothing happens when I press force tune? I already have a usb dvbt tuner working fine so there cannot be much wrong, also I can scan and get a channel.conf from the command line and tune to a station on the command line which seems to be fine? Any ideas would be much appreciated.
thanks

Make sure you've both enabled and assigned the network to the adapter then give it 5-10 mins and it should start scanning.
I personally wouldn't recommend that you use the presets as they're way out of date, I would have manually added the home transponders for freesat and sky both of which are:
Sky:
11778000 V 27500000 2/3
Freesat:
11428000 H 27500000 2/3
E.g:
As long as you have Network discovery enabled Tvheadend will find the rest of the live transponders.
HTH.

Hi,
Thanks for the quick reply.
I have added the two muxes you suggested and have network discovery enabled but still nothing happens when I try to tune. I have tried another make of sat card Tevi which agin is recognized and tunes with the command line but I cannot get it to tune in headend. Interestingly I get no output in the bottom debug window either? When I tune my DVBT card this shows up in the debug window.
Any more ides this is driving me nuts, I have been trying for a week now.
thanks

Another thing I have noticed there is no enable tick box on any of the DVBS tuners so I cannot turn them on or off?

Hi Mark,
Just come across this thread and I quite like the idea of adding the muxes the way you have suggested as I have found a lot from the presets are outdated.
What would I have to add to do the same for my dvb-t tuner.
Thanks

Generally you can add one DVB-T mux for your area, if you're in the UK look on https://ukfree.tv/prediction to find your local transmitter HOWEVER DVB-T2 muxes are not included in the NIT table (because some stupid DVB-T tuners will try to tune to them anyway), so you'll need to add them manually.

Cheers dude
Yeah I'm in the UK so I will have a look into that
Thanks

Yours should look like this:

Enable tuners I have found can be tricky.
One of my cards I have to click the actual tuner from the left side when in dvb inputs, to bring up the box to enable it.
But my other card I have to click the actual folder for the tuner to bring up the box to enable.
Hope this makes sense lol and helps.

Hi Mark,
For the freesat freq that you have listed 11428000 h is not listed on kingofsat.
Is it correct and also can I leave fec and roll off to auto or is it best I match them.
Thanks

It's what many Freesat tuners use to get EPG guide info (channel lists, EPG etc). You can leave roll off to auto but do the rest
Thanks

Hi Mark, sorry to be a pain again lol.
I have just scanned all my muxes they way you said earlier in this post but channels and all epg is all over the place now.
For example sly one is now universal channel. It also loads universal epg but is labelled sly one.
There is also a lot more like that. Itv 1 is now absolute radio channel.
What could it be.
Cheers

Hi,
Managed to find the enable button, as Rob said with these tuners you have to select the folder not the tuner itself. If you select the tuner, which I would normally do, you bring up a different settings page.
many thanks for all your help guys, I love this program.

I'm guessing you're using Kodi, you need to go into the Live TV/TV settings of Kodi and clear data.

Thanks Mark
I've done that channels all in correct order now but now I'm missing a lot of listing in the epg.
Tbh I've noticed the over air epg to be a bit hit and miss.
How does it work for you or do you use something different.
Cheers

also im not sure if I am doing this correctly or not when adding muxes services etc.
first off im adding a dvb-s network, then im adding the 2 muxes which you mentioned earlier on in this post.
I then leave it to scan for all sevices and the remaining muxes that appear.
after it has finished scanning I go to bouquets enable east midlands and check the box auto map to channels.
I then leave it again for a while until it is done.
is this the correct way or should I be going to services and map all first before enableing the bouqueat.
or should I be doing it another way completey lol.
Cheers

Just do like in this screenshot, there's a bug with the code that prevents Tvheadend from adding services without "Map zero-numbered channels" enabled :)
