Continuity counter error and other errors

Added by Joel Ramsey about 13 years ago

Ive just installed TVHeadend 2.12 on Ubuntu 10.10.

It picks up the tuners, and all the channels fine, all with 100% signal.

The problem is when i try and view the channels i get errors, such as;

Aug 23 11:24:07 TS: Afatech AF9013 DVB-T/Nine Perth: 191,625 kHz/Nine Digital: MPEG2VIDEO #512: Continuity counter error
Aug 23 11:24:07 TS: Afatech AF9013 DVB-T/Nine Perth: 191,625 kHz/Nine Digital: Transport error indicator
Aug 23 11:24:08 TS: Afatech AF9013 DVB-T/Nine Perth: 191,625 kHz/Nine Digital: Transport error indicator, 3 duplicate log lines suppressed
Aug 23 11:24:08 TS: Afatech AF9013 DVB-T/Nine Perth: 191,625 kHz/Nine Digital: MPEG2VIDEO
#512: Continuity counter error, 2 duplicate log lines suppressed
Aug 23 11:24:08 TS: Afatech AF9013 DVB-T/Nine Perth: 191,625 kHz/Nine Digital: MPEG2AUDIO @ #650: Continuity counter error

Now when im on my Ubuntu server, i cant get any pictures at all. So i thought it was something wrong with the signal (as i have seen mentioned before), but tvheadend was showing 100%

I then set up tvheadend in a frontend xbmc prv setup, and i recieve, and can view audio and video just fine, so its an issue on the ubuntu backend.

Any thoughts guys? the Ubuntu computer is completely up to date with updates and what not, so, im not sure where to go.

thanks guys.

You must try to update the firmware for the "Afatech AF9013 DVB-T" and see if it helps.

Hey man, thanks for the pointers.

My Afatech AF9013 DVB-T card already uses the latest 4.95 firmware (there is a 5.10 firmware, but it is buggy and doesnt work) so it seems thats not the issue.

is there anything i can post, like a log or something to give you more information?

The tvheadend log tells us that the packets in the stream has uncorrecteable error

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MPEG_transport_stream
"Transport Error Indicator (TEI) 1 Set by demodulator if can't correct errors in the stream, to tell the demultiplexer that the packet has an uncorrectable error [11]"

I see from earlier forum post that Afatech AF9015 tuners maybe has some issues, but the Afatech DVB cards are fully Linux supported (http://linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/Afatech_AF9015). Try the advises from this post:
http://www.lonelycoder.com/redmine/boards/4/topics/33

Have you tried playing the recording with VLC. Maybe its a ffmpeg issue in XBMC?
